“Go to Tacloban”, Anderson Cooper Challenges Korina Sanchez

Anderson Cooper challenges Korina Sanchez to "Go to Tacloban"

Anderson Cooper challenges
Korina Sanchez to “Go to Tacloban”

Anderson Cooper, one of CNN’s primary anchors, challenges ABS-CBN’s Korina Sanchez to go to Tacloban after the latter criticized Cooper, saying that the CNN anchor had no idea what he was talking about when he mentioned in a tweet that there seems to be “no real evidence of organized recovery or relief” in Tacloban City.  Cooper added that as wife of the interior secretary, Sanchez clearly has the means to reach Tacloban to cover the event directly from “ground zero” and see for herself that he was just telling the truth, his observations as to what is happening in the city severely damaged by Typhoon Yolanda [International Name: Typhoon Haiyan].

Cooper also clarified on Friday morning, November 15, 2013, in a live broadcast that he was merely reporting his observations based on what he had actually seen, and not trying to antagonize the Philippine government or attack it for its supposed “lack of presence” in the devastated province.

Cooper’s Report

Cooper’s report which was aired on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, had mentioned how he was puzzled that he couldn’t find whoever was in charge of the operations in Tacloban.  He admitted to having covered several other major disasters across the world and feels that the one Tacloban was a very bad situation, adding that there were no clinics set up at the Tacloban airport for the survivors to find medical aid, medical supplies, water, and food.  He adds that the airport would have an excellent place to set up such a clinic because it is the one that has the quickest access to aid.  Even the volunteer organizations that quickly came to aid the people of the city have no idea where to start because there was no command center for relief  operations.

reports live from Tacloban, Leyte

Upon his arrival on the fifth day after the typhoon severely damaged the city and many others in the Visayas region, Cooper believed that might have gotten late and that a lot of things would have already been in order, only to be disappointed with what he found instead. He observed that the survivors were already getting desperate for aid, especially for food and water.

He also compared the response of the Philippine government with that of Japan after the large-scale damage brought the devastating tsunami in 2011.  According to Cooper, whereas there was no semblance of order in the Philippines, Japan was very organized in its operations, quickly setting up search and rescue teams to look for survivors and recover victims.  Also, in a large-scale operation, Japanese forces combed through the wreckage, clearing debris, and “carving out cities into grids”.  In the Philippines, Cooper observes that “There is nobody helping.”

Internet Users Irked at Sanchez’ Reaction

With her husband DILG Secretary Mar Roxas as head of the rescue and relief operations in Tacloban City, Sanchez’ negative reaction to Cooper’s report drew the ire of internet users who believed that the CNN anchor had more credibility because he was actually on field whereas Sanchez was merely waiting for other reporters to provide their story, and that she was letting politics and personal involvement change her perspective.

The day after Sanchez was widely criticized for hitting on Cooper, she went to Ormoc, Leyte, located around 105 km from Tacloban.  There, she reported about the devastation, also giving out relief goods and her trademark “tsinelas (flip flops)”.

  • shots_fired

    korina sanchez, Belat!!

  • Rolando Buhayo

To Mr. Anderson Cooper….. on behalf of the Filipino people. I would like to apologize for what Korina did. Please note that the our leaders/journalist do not reflect the Filipinos as a nation.
I would also like to thank you, your report had so much impact that hours after, our president took charge of the rescue efforts.

    • Ces Pacheco Orcullo-Nemet

Don’t say on behalf of the filipino, because not everyone is agreeing with you and you don’t represent the filipino people.

      • Benjaminjosue Pareja

I must agree with Rolando. Obviously, Phillipine govn’t was doing nothing before Mr. Anderson’s report. He only said what he think is appropriate to say, not unlike Korina Sanchez.

        • celor71

The government officials are too busy to entertain interviews from the cooper. They would rather help because their time is precious to help. The officials are even criticized they are slow to responce so why give time for interviews. Korina knew what she was talking about because she knew first hand that her husband is busy to help. Japan is a rich County, a first World country so they have all the means to to be quick to respond. Tacloban officials were ready, but they themselves were part of the anger of Yolanda and those that they prepared for the typhoon were also devastated. Cooper should not compare us to Japan as we are a poor country and being the poor country is never the fault of the President so we shouldn’t criticize the government.

          • Benjaminjosue Pareja

I agree with you, Tacloban officials wouldn’t be able to help as they, themselves, were also devastated. Now let me ask you, shouldn’t be the central govn’t should be the one to take actions since the local govn’t of tacloban were devasted? How come 5 days after the tragedy, central govn’t is taking no actions yet? Wouldn’t we not criticize the govnt?

          • celor71

Have you seen how far was the central office to the devastated place, the first they did was clearing the bridges… Don’t you read about the afp who helped but almost died because it wasn’t still safe? Try to check our map and see for yourself the distance. Before saying that the government was so slow…Does criticizing help the needy in tacloban? Why not go there and help instead.. Be a doer not an spectator because if you just watch an idle there ‘s where criticism starts.

          • Alyssa

Critizing and merely accepting without any thoughts of how to improve things are both not good. Okay let us say that they have actions but they need now to change their strategy. That is the reason why the government hired speaker of the house etc. But what is the issue in the Philippines? It is good to have all the people coming be listed and Roxas group know about it. Yes, that is logistics but are we not supposed to expedite our logistics team? People in ther government have all means to make drills and that is why we have emergency preparedness plan. Have we reached the scenario in making drills what will happen is this so and so dies in a calamity. Who will be in charge? That is the same thing with what happened in Tacloban.

          • Jam Muncada

We Filipinos are disgusted with our current leaders! We deserve better… Not weak at maaarteng leaders.

          • ambro

          • Jam Muncada

            You are blinded!

          • Alyssa

In most of the tragedy that happened the national government is not much visible because when typhoon washi washed out part of Mindanao you can see Cebu government trucks deployed right away. However, this time around Cebu had earthquake and Bantayan, Daan Bantayan and Malapascua are affected. Thus, Cebu cannot be found in Tacloban. National government should make a strategy and plan now to rectify this mess that in case of emergency when provinces are affected then the so and so national government agency will take over.
As to looting, and the so called rape case? I do not know but there are mixed class people who are affected by the typhoon. There are people who were in jail who are good and victims but went to jail, there are those who are bad to the bones and waiting to get out and the list continues. I do not why I have read a news of one pilot taking off without orders bringing goods. He might lost his job but there should have been better coordination. If there is anything that stopped the president in using our new aircrafts then he should have vetoed whatever is that rule is so to expedite the release of aircraft for the recovery of surviving victims. We know that in this time of emergency, timing is very important. One must be quick because no one who have not eaten for days will be able to swim the roaring seas for 5 days alive and healthy.

          • Alyssa

Additionally, the Philippines major problem is the disaster through national calamity. Yes there are rebels in Mindanao where I am from. But, have you ever heard of any camps totally destroyed by any military planes in war? There is non and I could not remember that. If we have been serious in really eradicating the rebels then we could have done that and those aircraft would be rather useful so that the incident typhoon, earthquake and Zambonga attack will not come out in the international news. How can we become a country like this? We have rebels who are so selfish and wanting to govern when the people who went to school cannot efficiently run the government and have forgotten the role of a leader and what is service is like. At times, I feel that most of the leaders are very business students with special class in magic so to come up with a very good math resulting to a simple addition of 1 + 1 = 100 Million pesos PDAF funds out (excusely me for the good ones).

          • Reysh cemin

Seriously. Being a third word country doesn’t justify the fact that
people were dying out there because aid isn’t getting to them. It’s
almost a week now and the situation is only getting worse. All helps
from international countries have been pouring in but the government is
not making it easier for them too to lend their help to our kababayans.
The way the government responded to this situation reflected what kind
of president our country has. He’s not worth our faith and trust.

          • celor71

Really? How is that so? If there’s no difference then why there’s a such thing as 1st 2nd 3rd world country? Instead of lambashing the government why don’t you go the and help instead.

          • yuki

hahaha… I pity you celor71..you and your line of thinking is unbelievable..or maybe im right, aren’t you Korina Sanchez??? hahaha

          • RK

@celor71:disqus 1st of all yes japan is a rich country and so are WE, Philippines is very rich because of our livestock and agriculture, we don’t feel that way because of corrupted people 2nd is are you blind? cause obviously you can’t see that the government hasn’t even made a move or if they did, the foreign countries made a better move, 3rd I understand that you’re trying to protect our government officials, but sad to say, you’re protecting the wrong persons, i have seen Tacloban city many times, trying to help those people, and most of the helpers there aren’t even from our government, and the worst case scenario is, it is very UNORGANIZED, non-officials are the ones doing the work of our so called government offcials, I’m a Filipino and it so sad to see those people very desperate to have food and shelter and the our “filthy rich officials” can’t even give the right help to them…

          • Jam Muncada

Yeah Celor71 is blind. Masyadong mabait kaya nauuto.

          • ambro

You right @RK, Japan is a rich country coz there’s no corrupt in their gov’t officials. I’m here in Japan, we paid tax even road tax pero makikita mo dito kung saan napupunta yung binayad mo na tax kya di ka nanghihinayang sa binabayad mo.

          • Mikoy Alonzo Guzman

there’s more than 10 countries who donated more than $5 billion USD for relief, search and rescue operations. So we had the resources to respond.

AND it’s not about being a third world country. It doesn’t matter if the Philippines is a third world country. RESPONSE TIME IS NOT BASED ON BEING A POOR OR RICH COUNTRY.

See it’s thinking like yours the reason why the Philippines is still in poverty. “Oh we’re so poor we’re a third world country so our response time should be slow too cause we’re poor”

Where are we gonna be 10 years from now 20 years from now if we’re always going to think like that!?
Have you seen the photo of a media truck in tacloban that says “Obama help us please” ?

There’s nobody there for days after Yolanda left the country! NOBODY to help search and rescue. So what Cooper said is true. The response time is bad compared to Japan. PERIOD

          • yuki

            totally agree!!!!

          • yuki

excuse me celor71, are u Korina Sanchez?? because it seems that you too have no idea of what you are talking about,. so stop this diarrhea that’s coming out from your mouth…first hand? is Korina there to report what’s really happening in Tacloban???..ANderson is….. 1st world, 2nd world or 3rd world country isn’t the issue here…we’ve received hundreds of help from different countries so we have all the means to pull off the impossible if the Government will do so..but its been a week already and there’s not much progress until now….but since you mentioned it, why is the Philippines a 3rd world country in the first place? because of CORRUPTION of these Government officials, you stupid! I bet you too works for the Government and is so dying to get your hands on those donations we received from other countries

          • celor71

You will know the person by the way he talks and you are what you are with your words. God bless you!

          • yuki

Thanks. And you too.. I am so done with your line of thinking..May God bless you korina jr,..

          • celor71

            He he he

          • celor71

Our President is not corrupt its the former president so why put the blame on our President now?

          • yuki

wow seriously!?! and you know it for a fact!?!?! wow

          • norie ocampo

ayun lumabas ang totoo, yellow army……hahahaha…….pasencya na po, go with your president…

          • ambro

          • Jim

That’s a very pathetic point to make in situations like this.

          • Rolando Buhayo

Let’s say he’s not corrupt for the benefit of the doubt. But is he competent? Does he have the necessary skills and character to be a president? To be a leader?

Whether your agree or not, Noynoy’s presidency for better or worse will be judged by the way he responded to this tragedy.

          • Akosi Da Grifter

may verbal diarrhea ka pang nalalaman, tanga. actually dahil sa mga taong katulad mo kaya tayo naghihirap ng ganito. puro na lang daldal, walang gawa. puro na lang asa sa gawa ng iba. tsk tsk tsk. pull off the impossible you say? eh dahil sa mga taong katulad mo na ayaw tumulong sa gobyerno, how do you think na magagawa nila iyon? magbalik-eskwela pag may time.

          • yuki

whatever… your opinion don’t matter..go to school you “DO” need it more than I do..

          • Jim

LoL… Has it occurred to you that this is the place, the spot, the site that we should make dal-dal? How do you know for a fact that people who are commenting here are not helping at all. In fact while I am reading and commenting on this thread, I am packing some goods to be sent there in the affected areas via NGO. That’s actually the least I can do if I weren’t very far away. No gransdstanding whatsoever.

          • Rolando Buhayo

I believe some of the people commenting here already did their part in helping (I myself already did, but that I guess is for another thread)

Discussions like these are necessary, people need to talk. People need to criticize their government. The moment we stop criticizing our leaders, the moment we become complacent, is the moment we stop demanding improvement.

The government need to hear our dissatisfaction. They are elected to serve the common good of the Filipino people. If they are not doing what they are elected to do, then we have all the right to tell them so.

I hope you understand that my good sir

          • dandogblue

Your comments make you look stupid. Grow up. Tell that to my DEAD friends in Tacloban.

          • celor71

Don’t blame the government of your friends death and I am sorry to hear that, they did not kill them, it’s the typhoon.

          • rams

            your a big fat liar…….

          • Jam Muncada

celor71 doesn’t know the rights of every citizen in a democratic country. What a fool and ignorant. You should go back to school and study again…

          • Charles

that’s why the Government should help them! !!! LGus are also swept away! kaya needed ang help ng national Goverment na hindi naman natin nakikita!

      • InquiringEye

Sorry to inform you celor71 but, for me, he represents me as he is absolutely on point on this one.

        • celor71

Then so be it, but not all of the filipino people. Unless all of the filipino people agrees with him, but no. So before we claim our statement and acting as filipinos representative we must think first saying adding those words.

      • norie ocampo

yes celor71, i personally want to be represented by him…..but not Korina and more than his idiot husband…..

        • celor71

What help did you make to our County Norie? I just hope in this times of suffering we won’t criticize but help instead. Before we say bad things we must ask ourselves first if we have been a help to others, because most those that criticize are only spectators not doers.

          • Alyssa

we did heaps of help but not even enough. Have you Celor?

          • celor71

Why would I say let’s help if I didn’t? Don’t say your help is not enough whether it’s big or small you help. We just need to shut or mouth and pray for our country instead of saying bad things onto our government.

          • Jam Muncada

Celor71. We have the right to say as a citizen and voice their own opinion. And you have no right to tell the people to shut their mouth. It only means that you are dumb and acting like a fool!

          • Charles

Pray??

          • Jam Muncada

Prayer with out action is nothing. Faith without reasoning is of no value.

          • yuki

who are you to ask Norie of what sort of help he has done for our country?? you don’t know him and he probably helped these victims more than you do..so zip it…

          • rams

how about you celor71 what service did you do to your country, defending pnoy?

      • Saulo Santua Nulo

I agree to Rolando… maybe you celor you are an Idiot.. your not a Pilipino

        • celor71

A person is known by the word that comes out from his mouth. God bless you!

          • yuki

yeah keep saying that so your mind can catch up with your brain..”A person is known by the word that comes out from his mouth” – — right! we know exactly your kind…

          • rams

      • Omega V Velasco

I agree with Rolando. Stop being in denial! Can’t you see how corrupted our government is in the Philippines? This is a wake up call! It’s sad but people up North were busy watching Ms. Universe at a time their Visayans are having the whole Universe come to aid them. Where are the officials from the Northern government?

      • etonalang

but still,,case in point that rolando is on point on this one,,still he does not represent the filipino people,,

        • Jim

He is a Filipino and he can represent the Filipino as a citizen of the state whenever he likes and whether you like it or not. Why don’t you represent yourself too? If you have something to say.

          • etonalang

one man’s opinion does not represent the nation as a whole.. point is if your trying to prove a point,,prove it as your own opinion,,,representing the filipino as a whole is like saying all of us have the same opinion,,,dont misunderstand my comment,,,I agree that we all have the right to say we do represent the filipino people if we want to,,,Im just merely pointing out that his opinion does not represent the opinion of the filipino people as a whole….:)

      • norie ocampo

celor71….before you ask me that question what i have done…i have work for the people and not for those politicians….i have risk my life not once but with every minute working against lawless groups…but what do we gain….the fact that we have exhausted all efforts, does this government give us even a small word, Thank You….magpakatotoo lang tayo, we are just voicing our opinion, yung maliliit na naglilingkod, saludo kami sa inyo…..sa mga lider, maging tao naman kayo kahit minsan……..

        • Charles

          i agree!! :)

        • Jam Muncada

You are a good man nori!

      • wew

HE REPRESENT ONE OF THE FILIPINO,. AND HE MAKE AN ADVOCACY TO THE ONES WHO CANT! LIKE YOU.

      • Rolando Buhayo

Sorry but I have to disagree. As a proud Filipino, I represent my country and the Filipino people in every country that I go to and in every thing I do.

  • Jomy Ásgarð

telling the truth is hurts…that’s why Mr. Cooper is telling the truth & Korina is a BIG LIER & HYPOCRITE!!!

  • Topgun

I just hope and pray that all the millions of dollars donated for the relief of the survivors wouldn’t be just pocketed by the thieves in the government.. remember that there are also crooks in the government not just in the senate & congress.

  • dandogblue

How stupid can you be, Korina Sanchez? You forgot to be a journalist.

  • Josef Suson

Three days are enough. Four days are too much. Five days are dangerous to the typhoon victims! Why heavy trucks are the problem of the distribution of relief foods on day 4-5-6? Where are the heavy equipments and helicopters of the government to save the civilians during those 2 to 3 days?

  • BananaCoffee

Korina your putting your name in trash hahahaha!

  • Rene Ursua

Mr.Copper we thank you so much for helping Filipino people!you did a great job!!!

    • Luis

True. He showed how the government here in the Philippines reeks with selfish beings feeding on the lower classes money

  • celor71

But for them to learn something I have time to give them some lessons about picking the right leader for our country para sa mga ganitong trahedya eh action agad.

          • yuki

Lol. I think the people of Philippines are waking up.

        • celor71

I condemn that in Jesus name. Please don’t curse because it usually comes back to you! May God protect you and your family!

          • Jim

Celor, mangilabot ka naman sa pinagsasabi mo. Is that your last line of defense? You are not supposed to use The Name like that. You’re acting so pathetic.

        • Jim

Pag mahirap kausapin ang kausap, just say, oppps sorry WRONG TURN. LoL

      • Jim

The light of eternal excuses I may say. Sorry I can’t vote for that.

    • Jam Muncada

Filipinos don’t deserve a weak leader. There are many people dying. You should go there… Their complains are legit. Five days waiting in the airport without food, water, medicines and a clinic. We respect our hero his dad Ninoy Aquino (The great leader of Filipinos) and he is not like his dad. If the problems are complex. Back to basic and Make it Simple STUPID! Mahirap masyadong mabait sinasamantala let’s use our reasoning and common sense… God gave us brains lets use it right!!!

      • celor71

      • Leweiss

Pnoy is not like his dad simply because he’s not NINOY. Period. Pnoy is not a perfect president still, since nakaupo na siya.. we need to support him and not pull him down. In this circumstances, there’s a time for HELPING and be part of the solution first. Then, we can all complain and throw a tomato at each other later… That’s using OUR BRAINS.

        • Jam Muncada

Then he should realize that he only won because of his dad’s name. Yep I’ve been to many rallies supporting the Aquinos during the Edsa revolution and other rallies… Tell me what did you do?

          • celor71

We all deserve better leaders not incompetent leaders.

You talk nonsense!

          • Angel Francia Feliciano

            Tama! Tama! ay naku.. BOOOOOM!!

          • Leweiss

What I meant of support was “AS OF THE MOMENT of tragedy in Visayas” not your past rallies or whatever… Maganda at active ka.
Let’s not compare each other’s activities, that’s not the point. Anyway, gtg with friends to volunteer. See you around there. :)

          • Jam Muncada

I’ve been doing fund raising here in America for one week now. But, sorry we can’t stand weak leaders we don’t care kong anak pa siya nila.

          • Leweiss

Talagang kulang pa sa pukpok si Pnoy. I mean kulang pa talaga siya sa political will di katulad ng mga magulang niya.
Kaya lang, siya nga kasi ang nakaupo ngayon whether we like it or not. So we have to bring out the best in him so he can bring out the best for country. Hindi ko siya kinakampihan but I DO SUPPORT HIM because that’s what’s best for now. Iyon lang naman.

Good luck sa fund raising. Sana mas maging successful pa. :)

          • Jam Muncada

Maraming salamat! I appreciate that. It was my American friends who have been messaging me about their concerns and asked where to send donations prompt me to spent time for one week dedicated for the kababayan who got affected by the typhoon devastation providing awareness & asking for support. I’m a leader here in Houston our organization have over 700 memberships and is multi-racial. One American friend Lacy Strong’s Church held a fasting, praying and offering support/donations to Filipino victims & survivors. That’s how American loves Filipinos because of our good Filipino traits… I’m still supporting Pnoy because he is the only one right now that you can trust most among other leaders and he is a good man. PEACE at MABUHAY KA KABAYAN! I’m happy that Filipinos are exercising their freedom of speech. We just have to get used of back and forth comments so we learn from each other. Here in the U.S. everyone’s opinion matters. Good bless you and Filipinos like you and we hope there will be more… the future of the Philippines is going to be very bright. Have a great day! Bye!

I like that last part a lot!!! wooooot.

        • Jam Muncada

More than 92% of Filipinos are literate now so mahirap nang maloko likas lang na mabait ang karamihan nang mga Filipino at magalang kaya napagbibigyan etong mga incompetent na mga leader na ito. In coming years marami nang makukulong na mga tiwaling politico.

    • Angel Francia Feliciano

      Tama!

    • Animated Anito

      • celor71

Eh bat dka tumakbo pagka presidente? Kasi alam mo wala ka nagawa sa bansa, kung meron man ay ang pagko complain at alam na alam mong dka mananalo, bka d kp naging brgy tanod man lng sainyo… ha ha ha…

      • bob bob

i’ll vote for you!!! we’ll go there ourselves and get our hands dirty. unlike the ones who are sitting in a palace or a newsroom!

        • celor71

Bravo! Cge go na kau! Yan dapat gawin kysa dada lng ng dada! Ha ha ha!

          • bob bob

      • celor71

Oy, don’t curse others or it will bounce back to you. May God protect you. God bless!

        • xxxxx

      • Jam Muncada

        That’s right!

    • Ralph Anthony Arguelles

(Sorry for this comment, pero let’s try to reverse the situation)

      • celor71

Oy who curses ba? Dba c satan? He he he. Don’t curse it will bounce back to you. God bless you!

  • Leweiss

Cooper’s report was true but really come’on! Did he just compare the Philippines to a first world country (JAPAN) with one of the fastest transportation and advanced technology in the world????????????? Well, Mr. Cooper, there is a huge truth in what you have reported but you should do more research about the country you’re covering.

Let’s face it Filipinos, we’re a developing third world country. Any / Whoever president we get… HE CANT PULL US OUT OF THE MUD ’cause we ALL HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. So just stop complaining and just help… or maybe do YOUR JOB DAMN WELL; or better learn to follow traffic rules first!

    • Jim

Obviously, Cooper just stated the fact that Japan reacted quickly to the disaster victims in their own country, stating that military personnel were already in the site in just 2 days after they were hit by tsunami, plain and simple. Why would some people react to that report negatively?

      • Jam Muncada

Right! Because their brains are messed up. Anderson Cooper knows what he is talking about.

        • Jam Muncada

We were second to Japan in Asia before WWII and we were doing great 50’s & 60’s economically but because Filipino leaders became corrupt until now that’s why the nation became third world. But, I don’t believe that the country is poor. It is the people that made the country third world. Filipinos are intelligent! That’s why our family are now living in America. We can’t stand the corrupt practices there but if you ask me I would still come back and live in Philippines provided that the leaders change their ways and give great public service to the Filipino people especially to the poor.

          • Jim

            Roger that.. :)

          • Jam Muncada

Thanks Jim! I’m sure in the near future Filipinos will elect the real leader and the next great president of the Philippines.

          • Jim

Let’s hope for the best and always bear in mind, plan for the worst. :)

      • Leweiss

LOl there’s nothing wrong with JAPAN acting fast. Duh..
Mas may sense pa.

        • clark

There’s nothing wrong with Japan acting so fast??Of course there’s nothing wrong because Japan acted to quickly that the tsunami victims were provided foods shelter and water for them to survive..Ang gusto lang sabihin ni Cooper ay dapat mas madaling aksyon ang binigay ng pangulo sa mga biktima ng bagyo kasi naaawa siya sa mga tao eh,, si Pnoy ang presidente kaya, kaya nyang gawan ng paraan yan kaya nga siya binoto ng mga tao eh para protektahan at serbisyohan ng maayos ang mga tao sa PILIPINAS hindi rason na kaya walang mga military personnel na tumutulong sa TACLOBAN ay dahil biktima din sila,,bakit ang Tacloban lang ba ang may mga MILITAR sa ating BANSA..Kaya wag mong sabihing there’s nothing wrong kasi hindi mo nararanasan ang hirap na naranasan nga mga tao sa TACLOBAN…

        • Jim

Wala naman comparison doon if you read between the lines. I think it was good that he showed all the situations in the affected areas so people from around the world who wanted to extend help would know what the victims of Yolanda still badly needed more help.. I thought of it as a very positive thing to help the victims get more outside help.I don’t think Copper came all the way from the states just to discredit the philippine government, or just to plain criticize, what would he benefit out of it?

          • Leweiss

Hindi naman talaga siya nambabatikos. Wala naman ako sinabi. As I’ve said “true” naman ang report niya dahil iyon ang observation niya. Maganda ang report niya.

Kaya lang nga, since namention niya ang Tsunami Response sa Japan noong nagpunta siya doon at nag-expect siya na maayos na kahit paano ang sitwasyon sa Visayas, that was already a form of comparison.

Dapat talaga may background siya about PH government. His report really did show that Philippines need more help. Kaya lang since hindi niya alam kung bakit wala pang organized relief centers sa areas na iyon that time, hindi naging malinaw sa mundo kung anong tulong ang kailangan. His report raised awareness about PH situation at the same time his report raised anger, confusion and doubt hindi lang sa mga Filipino kung ‘di sa abroad na rin.

        • Jim

You’re saying :The thing is .. parang nagcompare siya ng kuneho (na mabilis) at suso … you are saying the we filpinos are like suso compared to japan? I have worked with the japanese in some projects abroad, I can’t see it that way, with due respect. .

          • Leweiss

It’s not exactly an insult to us. But really, compared to other countries… talagang mabagal ang proseso natin dito. Sa baranggay papers pa lang… It’s a fact…. mabagal ang proseso natin dito.. na gusto man solusyonan ng current govt. hindi ganoon kadili iyon.

At saka isa pa…

Given the geographic disadvantages and the means we have.. (ng hihiram pa nga tayo ng sasakyan eh… hay)…

    • yuki

here we go again with the first world,3rd world etc…

    • Charles

eh bat kailanagan pang ma-CNN na walang nagawa ang gobyerno ng pilipinas bago umaksyon c PNOY!? in fact, hours after the coverage of MR.

    • bob bob

it’s not about comparison.. it’s about how the government reacts.

    • yuki

this line of thinking is the very reason why the Philippines is a third world country.. sad thruth..1st world or 3rd world is not even the issue here.. oh well, nuff said..

          • jaime

        • bob bob

yan hope ka lang sa pnoy mo… and the body count will continue to rise…

      • Jam Muncada

Charles you are a good man and with a wisdom. Ang amerika is the best in the world kasi lahat may say kahit bum or mahirap ka pa pwede mong batikosin ang presidente at kausapin ang speaker of the house. Philippines been a part of U.S. sana it stayed that way para mga nangungurakot nang yaman nang bayan eh makulong.

        • Angel Aquino

Tsk.

      • Angel Francia Feliciano

Ill pray na lng for Pnoy.

        • Ralph Anthony Arguelles

Kay P-noy kaba talaga may respeto?? oh dahil dala nya pangalan ng pamilya nya?? anu ba talaga?? walang crab mentality sa nangyayare ngaun.. nagiging totoo lng ang mga tao dahil eto ung nangyayare ngaun!! I’m not against you or what! still we need to be more fearless to stand on our opinion! malaki mali sa gobyerno naten ngaun at alam kong nakikita mo din un..

        • bob bob

pray for your pnoy and i’ll pray for his victims!!!!

    • Jacqueline Buan

An astounding amount of tax payers’ money goes to rich men’s pockets. Poverty is considered as an underrated problem. Tacloban city is devastated while it should be recovering at this very moment. Yes, i’m a filipino. Yes, i’m complaining. I’d rather have someone like you criticize me than turn my head away from all this chaos you choose to believe is out of our hands.

    • jaime

Angel darling, your motherly comment just shows the level of your stupid mind. Anyone aspiring in that position must know its responsibility before they attempt to sit there.

    • Angel Aquino

          • Angel Francia Feliciano

Excuse me. Bisaya rin ako kahit e.search nyo pa. Do your investigation or whatever.hindi ako natatakot. I choose to encourage our President rather than pull him down. Marami na kayo eh let me be n lng sa iilan naniwawala pa rin sa kakayahan nya

          • yuki

wow talagang pinangalandakan pa ang last name.. as if naman. so ano naman samin kung hindi kayo takot? Massolve ba nyan ang problema sa Tacloban? ikaw nga ayos ayusin mo ang pagccomment. nakakabobo kasi..wala naman nagtatanong kung bisaya ka. i have a lot of Bisaya friends and they are far different from you… matatalino kasi sila at may sense kausap. iakw kasi nakakadrain ng utak ang katangahan mo

    • bob bob

say whatever you want to say about your president ms. Angel… i voted for Gibo!!!

    • jaime

      poor girl.

  • Angel Francia Feliciano

Don’t curse others or it will bounce back to you.

    • yuki

      papansin

      • Angel Francia Feliciano

        ok papansin ako. bwahahaha

    • Jacqueline Buan

You shared an opinion and voiced out your rights in expressing your freedom of speech. Why can’t others? It may not be right, but it’s not wrong. They’re just concerned about our kapwa filipinos and are disappointed in the lack of help being given to them by our government leaders. You have your right to defend the system, we have the right to complain about it. I’m proud of these net users who complain- it means they have something this country sorely needs- a voice, a will, conviction. I refuse to say “they can handle this” when they clearly aren’t- I won’t stand by our own country’s lack of involvement and look the other way as fellow citizens suffer in the rubble.

      • Angel Francia Feliciano

Ok. So yun na nga eh. Magpa.news sila ah kung yun namn pala gusto nila. Dito lng kc sila malakas ang loob mgreklamo. Cge nga pa pa news nila ta doon tlaga ako bibilib. Dun nila e.voice out yung reklamo nila.

        • Jacqueline Buan

Parang sinasabi, puro talk pero walanag actions- most of net users are the youth, honestly what more can we do than to voice our concern the way we are now. Gusto mo ba, we’ll do something about it? You may not know it, but in our little ways, we are. We did our part, we expect our leaders to be able to do theirs and give our donations to the city that needs it.

  • Jacqueline Buan

Tacloban needs relief goods, medical aid, and search and rescue. The people need the truth. They don’t need slippers and we don’t need biased sass.

    • bob bob

      • Jacqueline Buan

If she thinks this slippers is the solution to To Tacloban’s devastation, if she thinks this makes up for her humiliating comment, then that’s just sad. At least America had generously donated their supplies and workforce, it’s so embarrassing that she complained the way she did.

        • bob bob

right again ma’am… she’s like applying lipstick on her eye brows. making up ^^

  • Angel Francia Feliciano

Ill pray na lng for Pnoy.

    • yuki

    • Jam Muncada

Oh my! I rallied and supported Ninoy, Cory and Nonoy but we don’t think that way we hold whoever in the position accountable dahil ang mas apektado ay ang nakakarami lalo na ang mga maliliit at mahihirap na kababayan. They choose to serve and sacrifice for the country and we fully respect them and Ninoy is my hero. Hindi namin siya sinisiraan it’s the challenge for him as a president to do great not excuses. The government has no logistics & don’t have money why? Where is it? What happen?

      • Chris Esmilio

I feel u brother… ang mga filipino fanatics kase… they are blinded by the wrongdoings and faults of “their president” … It is ok to make mistakes, but it is unacceptable if it costs thousands of lives.. ipaglaban nyo pa ang kabaluktutan ng gobyerno… para sa susunod na storm mas marami ang Mamatay

Foolish people sila, eh? So ironic. Really.

  • nhey

    • Sosi Hetelmro

they are waiting for people to die, so that there will be a small amount of survivors to feed with overflowing help from other countries and private sectors, and they will greedily grab what is left from the donations.

  • pedronimo

Cooper had no motive but do his job: report what he saw, as we say “Trabaho lang, walang personalan”. On the other hand, Korina is the wife of the DILG Secretary, a close friend and alloy of the President and therefore objectivity jumps out of the window,

    • nhey

korina and i say ABSCBN is a bias station.

      ABSCBN: maraming tulong

So, dapat may solusyon sila. As a citizen it is our right to ask the people who are in public service especially in a democratic country. I supported Ninoy, Cory and Noynoy Aquino so it’s not about politics. It’s about accountability.

      • Guest

beyond all these..tanong ko lang, sino ba ang karapat-dapat na mamuno sa darating na panahon? sino? sino ang totoong tao, at almost perpekto na makakagawa ng lahat ng gusto nating mangyari na mag lingkod sa pilipinas na walang halong pagnanakaw kundi ang pagsisilbi lamang sa taong bayan, gawin ang lahat upang maituwid and lahat? Kung sino man ito o kung darating man, kelan pa kaya?? Isisilang pa kaya?

    • bob bob

simple… i’ll attend to those who are in need.. i’ll do everything in my power to provide them their needs such as food, water clothing… and you?

      • Jam Muncada

Agree with you bob bob! Turuan natin sila by saying “Make it simple stupid”. It’s about the dying people stupid government.

      • sandy

In fairness to the president. he was just doing his best but the thing is he cant do it one at a time. sana maunawaan din naman nang mga tao yon. hindi lang naman isang lugar and tinamaan nang kalamidad. marami namang tumotulong. minsan kasi nalalaman lang naten kng ano yong dapat naten gawin pag may nangyari na. saka palang maisip nang tao kng ano dapat gawin. parang ikaw din yan. una akala mo walang mag nanakaw sa bike mo diba kaya nilagay mo lang sya sa tabi na basta mo lng iniwan. pero nung nawala na naisip mo kng ano dapat mong gawin para hindi mawala diba. ganun din yon sa pag kakataon na ito ang government may natutunan din naman seguro.

        • Jam Muncada

This is not a simple problem kaya dapat lang na galingan nila.

        • bob bob

they should have thought of those things before they even vied for their positions…

          • Jam Muncada

            You are smart bob bob!

          • bob bob

just speaking my mind madame ^_^

        • bob bob

one more thing mr. sandy, is that his best???

        • Somee

Bike is not equal to life bro. Buhay yun.

          • Jam Muncada

            Tamang tama ka kababayan Somee!

        • Jam Muncada

It’s like this kung nasa trabaho tayo at nagkamali tayo nang ginawa eh di ba they will fire us. This is how a true democratic systems of government works. It’s foolishness not to hold them accountable especially in this catastrophic disaster. Tapos na ang pang-uuto more than 92% of Filipinos are educated and highly skilled.

        • Tons Bautista

Ever heard of the word “PROACTIVE” and “REACTIVE”? geez!

      • Matt Capangpangan

Paano mo mabibigay yan directly sa lahat ng binagyo in an instant kung kulang yong C130 planes mo tapos traffic pa san juanico bridge tapos possible na harangin pa ng mga armadong grupo yan? tapos magka ibang isla pa yong mga sinalanta?

        • bob bob

in an instant? wow. it may take time (not 5 day) but no too long, and planes aren’t the only way of transporting the goods… di po ba pwedeng gamitin ang mga barko? armadong grupo? i think those ‘armadong grupo’ you are reffering to can also set their differences, with the military, aside. i think they can show some love in times like these. ung mga chinese nga na mainit sa atin eh nag dodonate eh. what more with those ‘armadong grupo’?

          • Matt Capangpangan

          • Matt Capangpangan

paano nga? yong not too long?

          • Matt Capangpangan

atsaka di magagamit yang barko kasi may sumunod na si ZOraida.. bagyo yun

          • ele

          • Jam Muncada

            Right!

          • bob bob

tropical depression with winds up to 55 KM/hr so i think ships can handle that

          • Jam Muncada

            You amaze me bob bob!

          • Jam Muncada

Too many excuses… Yong mga tao nga na galling pa sa maynila eh para hanapin ang mga kamaganak eh it took them over a day to get to Tacloban. Eh yong mga leader pa eh mga nakahelicopter yon at naka airplane. In this big calamity there is no excuses they have to find ways to make it happen whatever it takes. It’s by doing something that is important not looking for the imposible ideas.

          • cerberus

kahit na anu pa pag tatalo gawin nyo kung wala naman ginagawa yung presidente natin wala din silbi kahit na ba i voice out nyo pa yan hindi din kayo papansinin

          • Jam Muncada

            That’s an excuse!

          • bob bob

zoraida was as not as bad as yolanda, and it hit the philippines days after the super typhoon.. what do you mean by kulang? di mo naman ibabasura ang mga barkong yan pagkatapos mong ginamit diba? so those ships can always go back to the relief goods’ source (where ever they are) and haul those goods back to the affected areas right?

        • celor71

Bwahahaha!!!

    • Somee

Plans. If he had plans before this happened and if it’s true that there are many backups here in manila. Nasaan sila nung day 1? Kaya nga sya binoto kasi KALA nila kaya nya. -Sige ikaw?

      • bob bob

        i agree!

      • Matt Capangpangan

        • Somee

Know your people you’re working with

        • Jam Muncada

          That’s an excuse!

        • Jam Muncada

Hoy Matt! It only takes to get an hour and a half to get to Visaya by plane. Don’t tell me it will take 5 days to get there… I’m a pilot so I know even a Cessna small plane it takes us over 4 hours to get there with stop over and refuel. So that’s an excuse again…

          • Efren Yambot Balajonda

          • Jam Muncada

Thanks much Efren! Bakit?

Hahaha! • Marie Rabina Macanas

tama ka….we are counting on him…kaya nga leader eh…

    • DaX Xad

      1. PLAN! have a cabinet meeting. (hindi yong sir mar roxas lagi nakapaepal sumusugod agad kaya uncoordinated masyado) contingency planning is needed. with “proper” people in the cabinet half day pa lang mkakaplano na.

2.with such devastation, seen during the first day alone, if im the president ill declare state of calamity/emergency -> to state of “national calamity/emergency”. mas madali magdeploy ng tao at pondo, mas madali ang pagpasok ng international help.

      3. with it being declared, i’ll deploy the military and police (deployment of armed forces and the police will be easier and much justified) (P.S ang daming battalion ang nagpaparada pag my event or anniversary!) now, deploy some battalions for peace and order, clearing of roads, distribution of foods

      4. coordinate with international community. if hindi kaya or insufficient knowledge, ask the US and/or Japan who were devastated with disasters as well.

      • Chris Esmilio

If ever u run for president I will vote for u… we have many educated smart filipinos like you and what disappoints me is that people still vote for someone because of their family name, celebrity and social status…and not because of their capabilities… A president is the nations leader…so LEAD! I really think they should change the system to parliamentary system it would work really good specially with corrupt govt like this

    • Jim

simple answer…a president is voted by the majority because he is expected to execute his powers with utmost diligence, integrity and honesty, not to make excuses.

  • sandy

Why Korina react on what cooper say’s? whatever cooper told on news are based on what he actually observed on the ground. korina is also reporter so probably she knew what cooper’s doing. it is same thing that lots of filipino are questioning why the US are occupying/control the Tacloban airport? why not filipino who are capable of it? the thing is SO what if US? as long as the relief goods and aids landed safety? Mahirap bang aminin na talaga naman hindi naten kaya at hindi naman talaga organized ang government interms of responding in any situation. masakit mang isipin at tangapin ang comment nang mga taga ibang bansa pero yon ang totoo. what we need is to pray if you cant help them financially at least you can pray/do something instead of questioning those people of the ground

    • Jam Muncada

Respect each citizens opinion this is democracy in action. Because thousands of lives perished and people are hurting. Hayaan nyong mag voice out ang mga tao don’t suppress them. If you can’t handle it then you can live this forum. This is what we call freedom of speech! I think you are educated to understand it. We’ve been helping financially so we have the right to make sure that our donations will go to the victims. So, please let’s respect everyone’s opinion. There will be lessons and knowledge that we can gain from other’s opinion.

  • Jayvee Phil

Puro kayo comment. Remember, when you point your finger at someone, three fingers are pointing back at you.

    • Jam Muncada

Philippines is a democratic country. Every citizen has the right to say and voice his or her opinion. If you don’t like this government system go to Saudi Arabia. Oo lang kayo nang oo doon…

      • chaloner

Republic of the Philippines. It is a Republic not a democracy.

        • Jam Muncada

          Please define Republic and democracy?

          • Jam Muncada

A republic is literally a form of government in which affairs of state are a “public matter”

          • Jam Muncada

Democracy is a form of government in which all eligible citizens participate equally—either directly or through elected representatives—in the proposal, development, and creation of laws.

        • DaX Xad

ever read the constitution? “The Philippines is a democratic and republican State” what magmarunong kung polpol rin naman isasagot mo

          • Jam Muncada

            Korek ka dyan Dax!

          • Vj

          • Vj

what i mean is yung debate niyo sa republic of the phils mmm

        • Jam Muncada

So based on definitions we are both a republic and democratic form of government.

        • celor71

Raliyista kc xla sabi nila knina, nong cnabi kona palamunin, biglang nag upgrade to businessman to pilot…. He he he he.

        • yuki

seriously!?! this is the joke of all time! best seller!

        • Jam Muncada

Philippines Government and Politics: The Philippines has a democratic government. It is a constitutional republic with a presidential system. It is governed as a unitary state with the exception of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao which is largely free from the national government.

    • Chris Esmilio

      Right back at you…hehehehe

    • celor71

      Tama!!!!

  • liza

    • Jam Muncada

God gave us brain. Faith without reasoning is of no value. The leaders of the country who doesn’t act right away to save the lives of many people and oppress the poor listens to the devil.

President has all the power to do what it takes for the people’s who happen to elect him to be the president of the Philippines. so where is the compassion and care’s. wake up Government of the Philippines and do something about the Problem there and don’t just sit there and watch the news’s. the peoples Life is counting on you.

    • Chris Esmilio

  • Momoi Barluado

during any emergency situation, THE PRESIDENT DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE STUPID!

    • Jam Muncada

Lol! OMG! Nag-aral panaman yan dito sa amerika. You know kaya nga minsan ang street smart eh maaasahan din. Bakit kaya hindi nagmana sa ama?

    • Frank Padilla

      Tama! Tama! Tama!

  • Jonas

The President, VP, and other corrupt politicians were just busy countin the donated millions and how they can put it on their pockets!

To the Filipino voters, vote those who acttually want to serve you, not the famous nor the popular.

    • Jam Muncada

      Korek!

    • Frank Padilla

Tama!

    • Jam Muncada

Bakit ka nag join dito? Kong ayaw mong may naguusap.

    • Frank Padilla

E sa wala nga siyang ginagawang tulong! Por bida gyud!

    • Truepinoy

GETS MO???

  • Jonas2

Neither one of us have the right to judge our country’s President. Why do most of us just see the negative things that they have, or might have done? Do you think bashing the president and the other politicians can contribute in helping our poor countrymen suffering now? Why dont we just pray for them and let God’s will happen.

    • Jim

God is always with us, but you are wrong in saying that criticisms won’t do any good. It’s annoying but they do help improve people.

      • Jam Muncada

Criticism even in church is a healthy process to avoid abuse of power what more for the government who is only created by man. God gave us brain, eyes and mouth. To see to think and speak the truth! And that’s what Anderson Cooper did.

    • http://www.ferdinandcc.org/ Lester Nelson

I sort of feel that if you think none of us have the right to judge the President, maybe you shouldn’t have the right to vote for President.

      • Jim

        very good point

      • Jam Muncada

Yeah! gusto nila sila lang may say… Ok lang for them to say something but to stop us for not expressing our opinion sorry guys this is a different world now. Philippines will be a great nation because everyone participate for the creation of good governance.

      • Truepinoy

    • Jam Muncada

They have been disrespectful sa taong bayan by not taking action right away. That’s the reason why there are so much clamor. We have different personalities so this how we do our way. If you want’ to keep quiet do it. But you can’t stop us by not practicing our freedom of speech. That’s what is all about! We want every one to have a freedom to voice out their opinion to hear and to learn from them. Have them exercise their rights as citizens of the Philippines. We’ve prayed and contribute financially and been doing fund raising for a week now. So we are doing more for our kababayan who are victims and survivors and in service to the country. We want to make sure our donations will go to the victims & survivors. We are not saying that the president is corrupt but the Philippine government has been corrupt for a very very long time.

    • jim

If they’re not doing what they’re supposed to do, then why are they there in the first place? If the government is loyal to its mandate, then our collective interest (which is obviously to provide immediate assistance to the afflicted areas without heavily compromising normal governance outside the said location) should be upheld by the government unto which we freely subject ourselves. “Bashing the administration”, negative as it may sound, is an avenue for the people to express grievances, an inherent right of every Filipino, so that the authorities would know what it needs to improve upon. And for the record, God values hard work (Parable of the Talents, Proverbs 14:23, and a whole lot more biblical references); it is better to be a channel of blessings rather than just keeping it for yourself.

      • Jam Muncada

        Well said!

      • Chris Esmilio

Bro ang daming nag nosebleed sayo… lalo na yung mga uneducated narrow minded people at the bottom!.. and hopefully we wake up these people and give a light to the truth.

    • Chris Esmilio

Yes we have the right to criticize him because we voted for him… we expected him to do what leaders do! Unfortunately, two days prior to the storm he told the people that they are ready for the storm then 1 week after hnde parin ready… so wtf? Really?? So what would a foreigner say when he arrives at the area and sees nothing? Exactly what he sees!!

    • Frank Padilla

Compared to Japan? They are bad!

    • Charles

OF COURSE!! IT IS OF GREAT HELP!!!! DAHIL KUNG HINDI PA CLA NA FEATURE SA CNN NA WALA CLANG NAGAWA HINDI NILA MINADALI ANG RELIEF OPERATIONS!!! PANO NLNG KUNG WALANG NAGSALITA NA WALA CLANG GINAGAWA!

stop fighting on air you twats.. my people are dying, you two not helping!

    • Jam Muncada

If you don’t like people talking you should get out from this forum and turn off your smart phone or your computer and don’t come back. That’s how simple it is. Let everyone express their sentiments and opinions… They are speaking legit flow of conversation that we can learn from their own ideas and beliefs. The site is set up for conversation. That’s the way it is…

  • bernet

stop fighting on air.. my people are dying, you two are not helping! Anderson you can criticize the Philippine government all you want, do you think Filipino’s are blind of this? you’re pretty much telling the whole world to stop all help. and Korena just stop, you’re making this into a whole new drama, you shouldn’t be the news you should give the news so just stop. take both your egos else where, thanks..

    • Rhyss

They are not fighting. Anderson Cooper isn’t making people stop helping. He’s pressuring the government to actually do something, cause he is giving light of their unresponsive actions. And, thats what news people are suppose to do: provide the truth – the contradiction of what ABS-CBN is doing.

      • im_earth

        there is no contradiction

        • Rhyss

Really? How so? ABS-CBN is providing news that the government is doing something – something that they change cause of their political stance. While CNN is providing solid, concrete, unbiased proof and evidence that they are not.

          • im_earth

            Anderson report is okay
            Sanchez report is okay
Sanchez comment to Anderson is not okay.

“something that they change cause of their political stance. ”
ABS-CBN is not a text network. So we really saw that there is a relief ongoing.
But Anderson reported and meant that more relief effort is needed on the areas where he was while.

            They are covering different areas.

          • Rhyss

CNN is more credible around the world because of their almost perfect unbiased and on-point(meaning they will cover everything) stance to news. The article even stated ABS- CBN corruption. So who’s to say the network shows only what you want to see. If there was really evidence that the Phillipines Government is doing anything, CNN would have covered it. Stop justifying the Phillipines actions, your just being ignorant and your promoting it aswell.

          • im_earth

who says CNN is not credible? me?
What we seen in ABSCBNnews that they are doing relief efforts vs Anderson said there is no relief effort on his first few hours of landing..

            both are credible.
we saw it in our eyes.

          • Rhyss

Just stating a fact that CNN is more credible. And, what you said just contradicted your statement. Example, If the government had ongoing relief aid happening mostly all the time, then, somebody arrives there( only for a few hours) to report on it, Then obviously they will report that ongoing aid is happening all the time. Now think about the opposite of that.

          • Guest

What you need to do is be there in ground zero and ask the starving people how it is.

          • Truepinoy

defending the incompetence of Sanches husband and his inutil dabarkads is but natural. Anderson who is a respected reporter of CNN is more credible coz he’s not related to anybody among pinoys. Period!

          • bon

CNN inter with no politics issues in yolanda typhoon but to deliver reports to the world attention to the disperate and starving Filipinos. ABS-CBN compose of many issues: politician related and business interest and scensorship reports that destroy the credibility of political related…and how the past (martial law) as an issues of the day remain a present danger a legacy of the past that people does’t know & how they protect this present danger a nighmare to them!

        • Chris Esmilio

Do u even know what contradiction means…ru not watching the filipino channel in abs cbn… why put abs cbn logos on ur donations? Bringing in celebrities saying what they have donated?.. abs cbn and other filipino networks are biased… its great that they donated but dont take this as an opportunity to promote ur show, ur next album, movie, or urself for the next election. Cant believe people still look up to these kinds of character..it makes me sick just thinkin about their actions

          • im_earth

they are not bringing celebrities. actually they planning a benefit concert that all tickets cost will go to the victims.
they dont receive any talent fee on that.
ur out of the topic when you see celebrities are bad example.

specifically talents in ABSCBN. clap2x to all who help

          • Rhyss

LOL. what does a concert consist of?

          • im_earth

since ABSCBN has talents. so their talents are using their skills to provide concert. showing their talents.
the ticket cost will go to the victims, they receive no talent fee.

Saturday Nov 16. Hope you are there.

          • Rhyss

it consists of celebrities. I rest my case.

          • Jam Muncada

They are singing and having fun Rhyss. There is a time for that not in the time of mourning. Gosh! Can you believe that you get those donations from people who are enjoying and having fun and while you are waiting and suffering from your family’s loss of lives and people are injured. They should think of better fund raising it is very disrespectful!

          • bon

BEFORE…during MARCOS regime ABS-CBN accused the gov’t of no freedom of expreesion and democracy…NOW…our GOV’T & ABS-CBN not allow adersoon cooper to exercise this freedom of expression…t’ll I realized that the victim of this supression of freedom of expression and democracy is this present governance!

          • Jam Muncada

This is the time for mourning not a time for laughing and dancing. There is a respectful way of raising funds. Now, after the time of mourning then they can do all those fund raising concerts. The best concerts for fund raising in this time are the ones that promotes love, peace, unity… and sympathy for the victims and survivors. I see many shows that are joyful in nature and yet many people in Leyte are suffering with out food, no water, no shelter, been waiting and waiting and waiting…

      • bernet

Cooper was in the Philippines for like hours before he decided to open his mouth, not realizing that the Philippines has a totally different geography than anywhere else. yes, if the government didn’t stole so much from the people then the country would have better equipment such as boats to carry all the relief goods. but they don’t, but guess what? the Philippine government is actually dealing with the corruption now, even buying vehicles needed for such events but that’s been going on just for a year or so–however slow it’s still more than what had been done in decades. and because of this the economic is rising up. if you know anything the world economy then you would know how important it is to have a good or at least improving government, specially in Asia.. also how long did it take US government to help Katrina victims, and guess what it was in US soil, where vehicles are readily able, and not to mention it’s a driving/walking distance. He compared the disaster to japan. where people from all direction of the country can help, not to mention there were several US military bases there. NO what cooper said doesn’t help at all. and Korena going on defense just ignited the ridiculous fire.

        • Jam Muncada

Sorry but he provided vital information. Please don’t make any excuses…

          • bernet

what he said was not vital information at all. he’s only been in the country for a few hours with the world’s most powerful media, which has its own way to get to a story. and then say oh why can’t they get here on time too (that’s just arrogant) not knowing that the government is still trying to move tons of relief across waters. and comparing it to japan, are you serious so now a 3rd world country is suppose to compete with the superpowers of the world? you’ve lived in america way too long. that report was nothing but his liberal bull crap of what he think is wrong.. I hope you know that a fil-am to spreading unfounded rumors is only hurting those Filipinos in the Philippines…

          • Jam Muncada

            Enough with excuses!!!

          • bon

Typhoon Yolanda strikes media personality fighting against the media, filipino fighting against filipino…effect of this fighting starving and disperate filipino victims of typhoon yolanda and the politician…lol…

          • bernet

            very true! 😛

          • Jam Muncada

I respect your opinion and sharing your sentiments for the government. But, in this case they are wrong and a disservice to the nation especially to the least of our brothers who have no resources and loss everything. No amount of excuses are acceptable when thousands of people are dead, and more dying and millions more are suffering and affected by the storm. If they can’t handle it listen to the reports ask help and support from the international experts and act accordingly. What if the US and other countries pull out their aids because Korina, the government and you think that you are right and showing your false pride. Do we have millions of dollars of aids that we here Filipinos in America sending dollars to Philippines to make the economy afloat for many decades. You are not that smart of practical thinking. Go ahead be with inefficient & unprofessional people in the government and the country will stay corrupt forever.

          • Jam Muncada

Here in America George Bush the most powerful president in the world was badly criticized of their handling of Hurricane Katrina’s devastations to New Orleans though efficiency disaster search and rescue are way way better than other countries. So, how come you guys are sensitive if we Filipinos and the international community are pressuring the government to act fast because people are dying and hungry… You are not dying and suffering so you don’t understand!

          • bernet

lol it’s obvious you don’t know anything about international relations or you wouldn’t be talking nonsense. I’d like to educate you a little more but it seems like i’m just going to waste my time. because pretty damn sure you’re one of those people who will rally and complain about ever single thing.

          • Jam Muncada

You are one of the unscrupulous Filipinos that will keep the Philippines government remain corrupt!!!

          • Jam Muncada

You don’t want to waste your time because you can’t win the argument that the most important thing to do is to help the poorest of the poor in Philippines the dying and the one who are suffering than this government officials that are stealing money from the people for a very long long time depriving them of their dreams and to have a better life. You got it! Now that is the true fact!

          • Jam Muncada

Oh, please educate me and tell me which countries you’ve been to… Don’t worry I have a lot of resources that I can double check on whatever knowledge you have about international relations by a click of the mouse. You think you are smart? Bring it on…

    • Frank Padilla

That was my initial reaction to this. Sanches was covering up the nonchalant attitude of the Philippine government in providing help. Anderson on the other hand is a liberal democrat.

  • Rhyss

To all the responders of this article,
Please use your brain. I keep reading of how we are not suppose to judge the government and that we should keep praying for the people affected by the storm. That’s great and all, but, you guys are just promoting ignorance and “turning a blind eye.” While at the same time, deluding yourself that you are actually doing something with just prayers – which is the contrary. Seriously why not do something productive: send funds, food, anything the people can use. For example, my prayers alone cannot feed the hungry. I can keep praying their hunger to go away, but until I give them food they will continue being hungry. Secondly, I dont know why people are saying that we shouldnt judge or question the Phillipines Government for doing nothing. Isnt that why we are questioning? because they are the ones who supposedly has to do something first? This brings to light their corruption and other negative things that they. Please, people you have a brain – use it.

    • im_earth

even if there is no corruption you cannot escape HAIYAN’S massive destruction…

      • Rhyss

Yes I know that. Its what you do after that actually matters. Which is funny because most are doing nothing but they think they are.

        • im_earth

          neither too

          • Chris Esmilio

            So tell me what matters??

          • Rhyss

actually doing something and helping them rather than praying it to go away.

          • Jam Muncada

Prayers with out action is nothing!!!

          • im_earth

“The criticism of the government response to Hurricane Katrina[1] consisted primarily of condemnations of mismanagement and lack of preparation in the relief effort in response to Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Specifically, there was a delayed response to the flooding of New Orleans, Louisiana. ”

            — no perfect nation. if you dont know which area was affected you canot reach out the help.
            – in Japan Tsunami they saw it seconds by seconds the Tsunami hit…so they know what area are affected. And still there communication was still able.
            – in Haiyan after 24hours there is no communication. The govt was already prepared on every storms. but lessons learned after the 1st Super Hurricane in the world hit.

          • Rhyss

I didnt say there is a perfect nation. And your justifying Phillipines Government’s actions. For example, yes, Japan saw the Tsunami seconds after it hit. That didnt delay them from sending out rescue teams, medical camps etc. International communties were even helping. It might not have been perfect but it didnt delay them. Now, compare that to the Phillipines’ reaction. As Anderson Cooper provided evidence for, Nothing was set up. People were all over the place and disorganized. Seriously, he even couldnt find the leader of the rescue team. Volunteers from other nations didnt even know what do cause they didnt know where to go.

          • im_earth

they saw the TSUNAMI where it hit so they know where to provide rescue teams. vs in the Philipines they dont know after 24hours.
Im not justifying Philippines govts. Im putting this in your logic.

          • Rhyss

Yyouve been justifying their actions for the past comments ie. They didnt know where it was going to hit, they only had 24 hours to respond, etc. By the way, they did know, alot of people fled tacloban before the storm. Meteorologist were also predicting its trajectory.

          • im_earth

Your past comments dont have logic either. Yes govt response is too slow. But why? Dont you have answers . Your only answer is because of corruption! Dont you have logic?

          • Jam Muncada

You are always talking about logic. The main fact is thousands of people are dying and needs to be address quickly that’s the bottom line!!! 3 days waiting is too much 5 days response is ridiculous! Flight from Manila to Visayas are just a half and hour away. Where is your logic you keep the people waiting in suffering, no food, no shelter… and in day 2 everybody knows what’s going on in there. If they can’t handle it seek help from the international community who are experts and accept the fact that the government is inept on handling the rescue and reliefs operations. They are helping why would you talk back to people where they ration reliefs and donate billions of dollars of aids ever since. We should learn from them… Not antagonizing them!

          • abic

Yes….why NOT????? When someone is corrupt, he is a rotten banana, no brain, no sense of responsibility and all other good virtues so he tends to be very selfish, he has no compassion at all, he does not feel the hunger, the cold in the night and the heat of the sun. His focus is to keep his wealth and his life in safety….and he becomes very SSSSLOOOOWWWW in responding to the call of duty and responsibility he had sworn to God…and Lucifer is LOL.

          • Chris Esmilio

So dont tell me that the govt didnt where the storm will hit? That is such Bullshit kase 2 days palang alam na sa leyte mag landfall yung eye..do some research bro

          • im_earth

Yes they knew. dont you that the local officials should respond first. like Mayor, barangay.. But none were reporting. Coz they are the one casualties.
They already prepared the usual preparation but not this type of storm.
So next time it will occur, expect leave the affected areas or die.

          • Chris Esmilio

Thats the mistake…why were they preparing for the usual storm when the whole world is telling them that it is not a usual storm…yes u cant evacuate the whole island but.. preparations aftermath…there was no response team..that is the issue here…there was no help after it hit..simply put, they were un prepared..u said it urself.. they were not ready… and that is unacceptable

          • im_earth

            do you have answers y?

          • Chris Esmilio

What??..now u just dont make sense

          • im_earth

im asking you do you have answers on some of your comments like ‘.there was no response team..’ ?
How can a response team response if the affected areas cannot be contacted to know the situation.
Unlike Japan Tsunami you can see live Tsunami update while hitting the shores.?
Do you see the same in haiyan? Do you see live video covering Haiyan? Commiunications were CUT! commuication is important. Partly restored on Day 2 Sunday.

          • Chris Esmilio

If there is a cutoff in communication what does that tell u?..the govt probably thought that since theres no communication..we will sit back and wait til it comes back on…is that ur logic?

          • im_earth

im not telling you that either. communication is helpful on this massive destruciton to reach areas. even communication is down they were already going there.
But when communication stabilise then thats the time they saw the massive help and effort should be done?
            thats my logic…

So when the communication was cut. no local barangays or response team can response to the unaffected areas on what areas are affected.

previous typhoons , help was no delay.

          • Chris Esmilio

So why was tacloban left out..I understand small towns… Tacloban is a major city…don’t tell me communication… The main govt could have supported the area as soon as the communication was cut off… And this is a big city! Stop justifying their actions…u get ur news from abs cbn and I can tell na abs cbn fan ka.. Not everything they show u there is true and only cover the truth from what is really happening there..

          • im_earth

im not anything fan on any news. They are covering it live..

so it was not true? They can edit it so fast ? they are super spontaneous and skillful if thats the case…

because here, you have lot of complain and questions. and that are the things that stuck in your head.

i dont question them their actions but rather find why it causes like that…

Do you know why they go to Tacloban? because the news is there. and partial communication is restored..

Dont you know when Yolanda left the country so that they can start the rescue?

          • Chris Esmilio

Yes…the whole world was watching the trajectory of the storm… What’s the weather channel for? And yes networks can edit stuff to change the tone of their coverage

          • Jam Muncada

I’m earth is the kind of person that you can’t rely on in times of disaster and calamities. All you read are full of excuses so it’s a waste of time to listen to his explanations because they will not provide urgent actions in an EMERGENCY situations. Can you read it “E M E R G E N C Y”. if you can’t handle it cry for help from the experts and turn the responsibilities to the people knows how to take care of this situations and stay away and don’t obstruct to expedite the disaster search and rescue operations and solutions.

          • im_earth

its not excuse. ur the one making XCUSES. venting what you cannot do. im just total concluded that there is no perfect nation in times of disaster. u may just keep ur mind pause and analyse.
this is what will happen when in times of disaster.
u cannot prevent looting, there is always a delay in response.. what more? stop watching movie! be real.

Good question. Let’s compare. It took US, a superpower, 4 days before
significant action started. How come Andersen is pointing out slow
response of the Philippine gov’t at about the same timeframe as his
            government response during Hurricane Katrina?

Facts about Hurricane Katrina from Fox News:

            Monday, Aug. 29:
            — Katrina, a Category 4 hurricane with 145 mph winds, makes landfall near Buras, La., at 6:10 a.m. CDT (7:10 a.m. EDT).

            Wednesday, Aug.31:
            — The looting grows exponentially. Thieves use a
forklift to smash into one pharmacy. Blanco asks the White House to
send more people. New Orleans police are called off search-and-rescue
            missions to combat out-of-control looting.

            Thursday, Sept. 1:
            — Looting, carjacking and other violence spreads, and the military decides to increase National Guard deployment to 30,000.

Outside the New Orleans Convention Center, the sidewalks are packed
with people without food, water or medical care, waiting for buses that
            do not come. Tempers flare.
            — Violence escalates. Rescue boats are stolen by marauders, shots are fired at helicopters evacuating hospital patients.

            Friday, Sept 2:
            — Thousands of National Guardsmen arrive in New Orleans in truck convoys carrying food, water and weapons.

Those again are just excuses! A long lists of excuses… Wake up!!! The more you say the more you are wrong and telling none sense. Just accept it that if you are one of the victims and survivors you can’t wait for that long. You ask them. Go there and interview the victims and survivors and it will open your eyes. That’s how simple it is! You are hard headed just like other corrupt and inept politicians in the Philippines. Be with them and someday when it happens to you will realize that you need help right away when you see your love ones are dying. Stop of your none sense. Be smart! Thinking simple is the smart way and you are just getting confuse…
FACT: George W. Bush was badly criticized here in the U.S. right after the storm there were search and rescue already and the president was in Airforce 1 presidential jet hovering and looking over New Orleans. That’s the fact! But, we don’t let him just let him sit in the plane we wanted him to do more and more… You know what he did? He apologize of the slow response though the efficiency rate of the disaster response compare with all other countries are way way better. The bottom line is we need to keep hammering the leaders to act right away a second delay in an emergency situations is vital for the lives of many people. Racism issue was raise to get his attention though he is not a racist president. America’s priorities are safety and security. U.S. Presidents apologize any shortcomings. In the Philippines the greedy politician priorities are stealing money from the government.

          • Jam Muncada

Where were you during Katrina? Our relatives from New Orleans came to our house in Houston and seek refuge for many months and their house destroyed. So, who do you think knows better you or us that experience it. That’s how say reality! Because we experienced it!!!

          • im_earth

stealing money from the government is no exception from any other
countries. and my last reply to u is not an excuse.
            its a FACT.

            yes we
            should keep hammering the leaders,
we were experienced better with Typhoons. and the Haiyan is exceptional than the previous storms experienced. This is the first time the entire nation was shocked on Haiyan aftermath…
and this is not an excuse comment.

            there are lessons learned here.
            since there is a mistake.

but getting sample from N.O.that experienced the big Hurricane hit in there place, I think the same experienced in Haiyan in terms in delay of response.

          • im_earth

i think I am getting ur point. since New Orleans experienced delay of response so New Orleans govt is corrupt too. that I think u want to put me in ur logic. hahhaha

          • Jam Muncada

Now you are laughing because of your stupidity. The main thing is no matter what we hold anybody in a position accountable!!! You are not a reliable person. So stop of your nonsense.

          • im_earth

yeah. nonsense reply from me because u do nonsense first.

          • Jam Muncada

Nobody will believe and can rely on you especially on your empty words…

          • im_earth

i do agree on ur profile photo.

          • Jam Muncada

Oh, you are not mother earth. Lazy one and inept person!!!

          • im_earth

ur mad coz ur what. .. ur out of topic. u can defend. i agree on ur opinion , i am just trying to re-shape it smoothly…

          • Jam Muncada

You think foolishness. Simple facts can’t understand.

          • im_earth

I am the one who pasted facts first but u seem u cant understand first.
the experienced of Katrina vs Haiyan experienced are the same? agree or what?

          • Jam Muncada

I can’t agree on you because you are unreliable person! And, that’s the fact because of your facts creating many excuses!!!

          • Jam Muncada

You use those facts to make a long list of excuses! Not only you are unreliable but also incompetent same as the inept and corrupt politicians in Philippines. Same feather flocks together!!!

          • Jam Muncada

Your mind been corrupted by the corrupt mentality of unscrupulous Filipino people. So, there will be no change unless you change your ways of being irresponsible and incompetent and many excuses.

          • Jam Muncada

You can’t win the argument because our hearts goes to the victims and survivors. And, your heart goes to the people in high position that causes delays putting lives in danger before they act fast!

          • Jam Muncada

I’m not mad on any body. The way you think has to be directed so the country can change for a very bright future and Filipinos who don’t have the capacity to think the way towards progress will not follow you.

          • Jam Muncada

I had enough of your foolishness!!! And stop right here. You are useless. Talk to your hands and kiss your president behind! I don’t want to waste time of dumb people. Simple things it’s hard for them to understand. What more if the problems are complex. Just many excuses… and excuses… and excuses. You can’t become a leader you’ll just be a follower of fools!!!

          • Jam Muncada

Don’t act like you are intelligent. You are not!!!

          • im_earth

im not claiming. u have just never ending question. this is an act of being intelligent having questions.

          • Jam Muncada

Well, you challenge us by posting facts that just leads to excuses. That’s what you got for thinking foolish!!! Many of us can’t agree on you. There is no such thing as win or loss. It is how we do the right way of governance because the Philippines government has been neglected the country’s progress of a very long time. Got it!

          • Jam Muncada

You are right Chris! That’s a simple answer that one should know right away that the people in posts are in trouble. A leader should check their people and provide necessary solutions asap when there’s no communication. In that situation that no reports are coming in you can’t wait but to act and make a desperate measures. He is seating his butt off waiting… and waiting… waiting… Gosh for 5 days! Everyone knows in the whole wide world that Tacloban was destroyed in day 2. That’s ridiculous! It only means that they don’t care about the people’s sufferings… Hope whoever saying that it’s ok to be rescued after 6 days or 10 days without food, water, shelter, clothing, experienced it and kiss their president’s bottom and praise him. Tsk tsk tsk. That’s why the country is a mess due to people making excuses… Just accept the fact that nothings happening in 5 days from the government disaster search and rescue quick response. I’m a supporter of the Aquino’s and Pnoy but this time it’s a shame!

          • abic

            hahahahahaha, korak

          • Jam Muncada

Everybody knows that it is a super typhoon…

          • epiquestions

Why would you expect the local officials to be the ones to respond first? They were the victims. What the others are saying that you can’t seem to put in your logic is that the rescue and relief operations are so disorganized that it is detrimental to the helping of the victims. You can have all the donations, rescue teams but if you are not organized and efficient you are just going to waste time and resources. You are just going to help a little when in reality you could help alot in little time by just being organized.

          • im_earth

victims perse is not the same on the previous storms. they still can contact after storms and report the situation

          • epiquestions

But still you know where the storm hit so you know where the severely affected areas are. If you had a relative living in Tacloban wouldn’t you ask how they are doing? And if they don’t respond wouldn’t you worry and ask the authorities to check on them? It is the strongest typhoon ever and nobody expected that communication would go down? Especially on relatively small islands? Damage to infrastructure is to be expected So lack of communication capabilities from the affected areas are not valid reasons to assume that everything is fine. There are towns that have 90% of their infrastructure destroyed but none or have minimal casualties. They were able to prepare properly and stay on the evacuation centers that are strong. Mother Nature is unpredictable but it doesn’t hurt to assume/expect the worst whenever it dispatches a disaster on our land

          • epiquestions

They know where the storm hit so they know where to search. Again, if you go to tacloban and you can’t find who is in charge of the rescue operations and everyone is doing their own thing very disorganized it says something about how bad the rescue efforts are and it could be improved to be able to actually help the people. It is so disorganized that it is not helping and that is the point. Put that in your logic.

          • im_earth

he dont ask who is incharge.

          • epiquestions

He is a reporter, the first thing that he would do is to ask and go talk with the one in charge. How else could he report on how the relief and rescue operations are going? If you want to know the status for something you would ask the man in charge and not some victim or a volunteer worker.

          • Chris Esmilio

Well its funny how u just googled that…but yeah..there is no perfect nation..and katrina happened years before this…should we all learn from it…as govt..they should have prepared more efficiently… sa katrina and sandy palang and even tsunami sa japan, why didnt they look at those and study how they’re government acted in those times..if there were mistakes what mistakes can they avoid!… they were asked days before if they’re ready, and the president said they were Ready..then what happen?

          • im_earth

Japan build a great wall against TSUNAMI. what happened too?

          • Chris Esmilio

Yes but the response team was very efficient because they looked at other incidents and studied how they can be more efficient!… didnt u hear the news from cooper.. in day 1 japanese armies and officials already clearing out rubbles and grid by grid dividing their search parties for survivors…that is day one! And they didnt have proper equipment s at day 1 also…they were using sticks and woods…? So tell me?? Why couldnt filipinos do that… officials shud just admit that they did not prepare for this and instead was scratching their balls waiting for other nations to act for them so that they dont have to use their own funds.. realtalk

          • im_earth

            dont you know that Haiyan

Day 0 Friday the Typhoon Hit.
Day 1 Saturday – No communication from the affected area. Local News Reporters cannot be contacted too. Late Night fed up reports in some areas.

            in Japan again.
            – they saw it seconds by seconds the Tsunami hit. within 24hours they provide assistance since they have stable commuication. some helicopter video the Tsunami.. in Haiyan can you do live video during Haiyan?

Put logic. Add logic. Something missing. Im not defending any. I only have this logic.

          • Chris Esmilio

So whats ur logic after 1 week you will look through the rubbles to see if there are survivors?ur logic does not make sense

          • im_earth

maybe ur having late news update. contradiction into reality and with ur logic.

          • Chris Esmilio

Maybe ur logic is clouding ur mind..

          • Chris Esmilio

Speaking of logic it doesnt take five days to get from manila to leyte!..

          • im_earth

why u will go to leyte?

          • abic

have you seen how Japan took care of the victims immediately after the disaster????., i can show you pictures

          • im_earth

I know. Do you know Why they took care of the victims immediately after the disaster?

          • Jam Muncada

            Right!!!

      • abic

hey…what are you saying…???? how could we not criticize the government for doing things sooooo very slowly and veryyyyy disorganized????? and no control at all. Even in press releases, they seemed very poor in disseminating info to the media. Better watch CNN and BBC because “what happened is what you hear and what you see live in tv”…Media as they get info from the Govt kept mentioning of the US Russia and the rest of the big countries without mentioning the support (navy ship with tons of goods, millions of dollars, technical and medical team) from the ASEAN neighbors.

        • im_earth

they are disorganised because the victims were disorganised everywhere. its a mixed emotional trauma. can u imagine urself within the Haiyans storm? can u organise ur mind if u see ur environment devasted. no people, no infrastructures. just devastation and hopeless.

both rescue teams and victims were been trauma on the aftermath.
i think ur imagining urself for example,
just now its storming then after 1hr later it stop, then go out, find relief.. just it? no emotional involve? no feelings.?

    • Jam Muncada

You are right Rhyss!!! Prayers without action is nothing.

  • im_earth

The criticism of the government response to Hurricane Katrina[1]
consisted primarily of condemnations of mismanagement and lack of
preparation in the relief effort in response to Hurricane Katrina and
its aftermath. Specifically, there was a delayed response to the
flooding of New Orleans, Louisiana. (See Hurricane preparedness for New
Orleans for criticism of the failure of Federal flood protection.)

Within days of Katrina’s August 29, 2005 landfall, public debate
arose about the local, state and federal governments’ role in the preparations
for and response to the storm. Criticism was prompted largely by
televised images of visibly shaken and frustrated political leaders, and

of residents who remained in New Orleans without water, food or
shelter, and the deaths of several citizens by thirst, exhaustion, and
violence days after the storm itself had passed.[citation needed] The
treatment of people who had evacuated to registered facilities such as
the Superdome was also criticized.[citation needed]

Criticism from politicians, activists, pundits and journalists of all
stripes has been directed at the local, state and federal governments.”

    — no perfect nation.
    — Haiyan is worst than Katrina

    • Rhyss

so your justification is since one nation is doing it, the other can do it as well. Al in all, Katrina’s response team was 100x more responsive than Phillipines. imperfection doesnt justify stupidity.

      • im_earth

im not seeing it in the article the 100x responsive on what I pasted.

        • Rhyss

that was not even grammatical. Im confused as to what you are saying.

    • Jam Muncada

Just full of excuses!!! I don’t want to trust my family safety and security with this inefficient leaders. C’mon it only takes you 1 1/2 flight to Visayas region from Manila don’t tell me in 5 days they don’t do nothing but talking and talking and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting… You should go there are and ask the people if it is ok to wait for that long. Many survivors have not been reached yet. That will answers your dumb thinking go ahead and kiss your presidents behind… When life are at stakes there should be no excuses!!! There are no money and logistics why? Where is it? People pay taxes… Millions of Filipinos work abroad and send Billions of dollars in remittances and make the country’s economy afloat. If you all know about the government and working for the government you can speak with us. And we would like to ask you many questions are you ready? If you are not from the government you don’t have the ability and capacity to answers questions. It will be such a waste of time because you know NOTHING!!!

      • CBG

        • Jam Muncada

Yes sir! Puro kayabangan! Sabi nang presidente 2,000 lang ang namatay mali na naman siya it is now close to 4,000 deads it’s rising until they find out that there are more bodies in the rubbles.

      • im_earth

no response is fast enough on the super storm..
, no non-corrupt countries can be perfect on the relief and rescue… there is always a delay

    • Chris Esmilio

U just related what u said earlier…maybe u should read my response below..

    • Moira

before haiyan struck … we all knew this was going to be a super typhoon … we are all know that our country is an archipelago … we knew that a storm surge was going to happen … we knew that houses made of cardboard were built by the sea … but planning was not thorough to mitigate risks … whoever was in-charge should have gathered all the facts to avert or lessen the impact given these facts … problem is we are a country run by incompetent leaders who focus on how to make money at the expense of the taxpayers (there are a few who are true public servants but this is a rarity these days) …

this boils down to a combination of things that we are all aware of 1) corruption; 2) poverty; 3) politics … it takes haiyan to confirm what we already know … it is not a revelation … right now we need to focus on expediting relief operations, saving lives and restoring order but at the same time i think we should also call out inefficiencies and anomalies … otherwise, we all become complacent and assume that these actions are acceptable when it’s not … this is the time where we veer away from the old mentality and mold people to think differently …

If our government is telling us (or making an excuse) that we were unable to respond quickly to the disaster due to logistical problems, geography, unprecedented strength of typhoon then it makes me wonder what our capability is to defend our country …

  • mark

We cannot blame anyone in what happen. Yes. We had this catastrophe and we should help hand in hand in anyway we could. I admire abscbn act of charity and whats wrong with that. Kesa nmn putak k ng putak at wala k nmng natutulong y not shut up ur mouth i seen everything here in tfc. N abs doing everything they can. They talk they act they performed. Nonetheless atleast they reach out and agaon whats wrong with dat. Atleast now they can reach alot of people to help our less fortunate kababayan. I am not pro pinoy. Yes the action took a quite sometimes And i dont know y? But atleast the govermnt is foing thier best to reach people. Kung mabagal man thete is reason again no one knows it will hit bad and you cannot evacuate 4 million people. Lahat tayu pinoy lahat tayo ayaw mangyari un ang importante magtulungan tayo in anyway. With the help of media we reached alot of kabayan here. Lets continue praying for philippines. Tama n ang turuan walang may gusto nito.

I am earth i do understand your point…. which other cannot see it logically. It is easy to understand we dont have the means kaya ngayun ipakulong lahat ng magnanakaw lalo n ung sa pork barrel cause without those greedy politicians our money will gone waste. Bullshit sila dapat ang natanfay ni yolanda. Without those greedy politicians our money were used in proper way.

    • Jam Muncada

The government with its mandate is the “sole responsible” to do act of emergency response in times of disaster to a devastated regions. The word emergency meaning an urgent act. How come we can’t pinpoint on who is responsible. Which is clearly stated that it is the government. So if they are inefficient and irresponsible they should be held accountable and people of the Philippines who the ones that truly own the country should fire out this inept people in positions.

  • Peter

I was also very angry of our government for the first few days after the typhoon beacuse of the slow response in this kind of emergency, but after I saw a video on GMA news last night about an International Aid guy, who has been in the worst earthquake in Haiti, and the tsunami in Indonesia to aid the people, he said that he understand this situation where relief goods is slow, he said that in Haiti it takes 2 weeks to establish relief goods to the people, and he said that this disaster is the worst disaster of all. he said you can combine tsunami in indonesia and haiti it will dwarf those disasters combine. People our government is trying there best. Our government needs us now. Please help. Go Philippines!

  • Javi Dawn Generoso

I think that all of us have different views about this. We should just respect each other. I for one think that Anderson Cooper is right in a lot of ways. It should not take our Gov’t., or whoever is in charge, 5 long days to be able to send relief goods, clear the roads, do a search and rescue operation, and to set up a medical clinic for survivors. We do have the transportation and equipment to do these sorts. If the Japanese and US military forces can act and do it fast and with order, why can’t we? And to think that they still have to travel hundreds(?) of miles or more to get to Tacloban. Can’t there be less talking and more doing? The Gov’t. keep asking for help, either money or goods, but not ALL of what they received really reach Tacloban because a family of my friend there never gotten some and to think, people almost all over the Phils. send relief goods for Tacloban. Surely everyone at Tacloban would have receive even a single water and food, right? If the officials want to help, why can’t they give some money from their pockets and buy goods for Tacloban? They do have A LOT of money and don’t we have many politicians?

Just keep it together Tacloban. You can pass this hurdle. :)

  • jack

What they need right now is immediate help. Stop Blaming on whose fault it is. Blaming will not do good but will just add up to the problem. When a killer earthquake hit Baguio City, we never complained, but there was the spirit of bayanihan everywhere, our house was flattened by the strong earthquake and we have to start again from zero. Government help then was also slow, but hey! what do u expect? It is high time for us Filipinos to start educating our people regarding disaster preparedness. Our Government should learn the system of delegating responsibilities to every officials so that our people would know who’s in-charge. Abolish too much bureaucracy! Filipino Bureaucracy is CRAZINESS! It makes work slow! . . .Donations amounting to Billions of pesos have already arrived and more are coming. The Government can use these funds to build a sustainable shelter for our kababayans in the Central Visayas. Thank You to the countries that immediately extended help to us. MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT SA INYO!

She is not even credible as Jessica Sanchez who has gathered so many awards for the most trusted news anchor in the Philippines. The Philippine government needs to step up, stop talking and coming up with excuses, and take the reigns of this relief operations. For it to already be the eighth day of the disaster and still so much disorganization in the area and lack of leadership and direction from the government is deplorable. The UN’s stance is correct in saying that all the aid that has arrived is only part of the solution, but the Philippine government needs to take control for how they want things to be done. Instead, it seems it would rather all of the international teams and groups organize it themselves and they will just follow. It can’t be like that when other countries have shown how responsible and quick thinking they are when it’s come to their own natural disasters.

Oh, and Korina Sanchez….you got served.

  • mikeySTABS

Hey Sanchez get your lazy mestizo A$z off the chair and get down there and help your countrymen…and you sit there and wonder why your best and brightest have to go overseas to get a fair deal. They should be able to get that same fair deal AT HOME.

Those who are criticizing the government for being slow to act in responding these crisis should STOP doing that, it would be better if they come to Leyte to see for themselves to see the real situation for themselves and contribute what they can do to help the survivors. Negatives rumors and criticisms add only more depression to the survivors once they know it.

Leyte alone have 40 municipalities plus Tacloban City, each municipality have barrangays or villages. I was born and raise in baranggay Guinarona number of casualties 9, after 6 days still no releif goods but the people are patience hoping it will come. Guinarona is located in the Municipality of Dagami, Leyte 38kms from Tacloban, composed of 55 baranggays.

My only request, be SYSTEMATIC in desposing goods and rescue operation teams. The person in-charge should designate teams per municipality for effective disposal of relief goods so the people may have food and water to drink, “SPREAD THE RELIEF OPERATIONS and RESCUE EFFORTS” do not concentrate in Tacloban alone. Airlifting of goods is much better for fast response in delivering supply to devastated place.

There is port in Municipal of Tanauan, the government can use it for delivering of releif operation. I hope this will be a moral lesson for future reponse if a calamity happen again (knock on wood)

who in the family works in the ph gov?

    • Moira

well said henry, i couldn’t agree more … time is of the essence and efficiency would be critical … things can’t be executed haphazardly and should be streamlined … this is where we people to step up, roll their sleeves and get the work done … no finger pointing … problem is there are agencies in the government that still adhere to ineffective processes and red tape and is taking longer … constructive feedback should not be misconstrued as being critical … we also have to be vigilant with anomalies that could hamper relief operations …

      • Jam Muncada

So, the president and his people should help carry bags of “dead bodies” on the streets too if they are truly leaders and set a good example. People of the Philippines pays them too run the government and yet they are stealing the resources of the country and its people.

  • Jam Muncada

    Full of excuses!!!

  • Nene-Edith Malagar Rodas

I think, Cooper was not really criticizing the Government. He was just reporting what he saw… There’s always room for improvement and we should learn from this tremendously bad bad nightmare… and be prepared!

    • Jam Muncada

Right!!! This is the right way of thinking smart.

  • Donn Carlos

Mr. Cooper…to lambast the the local authorities is to misunderstand how humanitarian relief operates – and to overlook the humbling charity already on offer from people who have little to give. Have done something to help the victims Mr. Cooper? Or you just talk and nag like a girly man!

    • epiquestions

it is called reporting..honest reporting. It would help the victims better if everyone knows what the real state of the rescue and relief operations is, instead of feeding us lies so no one would think to put a better effort to help these people. He was not lambasting the gov’t, and he has compared it to Japan rescue efforts during the tsunami so I think he knows a thing or two about how ‘humanitarian’ relief operates. And the state of the rescue and relief operations has nothing to do with the charity given by the people. Yes people have donated but due to the lack of organization it is not reaching the victims fast enough. He has done something to help, by Pointing out the real status of the rescue and relief operations. The problem with people like you is you can’t accept criticism even if it would help improve what is needed. You just sit there in front of the computer and act hurt and think that by telling off someone who has done honest reporting would make you feel better about yourself and that you have helped.

    • Evelyn S. Angeles

donn carlos, are you homophobic? it is not a question of gender here. but it is a matter of integrity and honesty as far as reporting is concerned. Mr. Cooper didn’t lambast anybody. he was just merely saying the truth based from what he saw and observed.

    • disqus_qFoCan8pQj

what you said is so wrong.. anderson cooper admitted he is gay and is proud of it.. we must not judge others due to their gender.. he didn’t misunderstood anything he just stated the fact that no government presence is observable.. he has that right to say that because he is a reporter and we can’t make derogatory statements against him base on that.. if you want to blame someone then blame those who are sitting at the top who doesn’t want to be bothered by this things.. if president aquino can give his DAP then good, but then again all the money was already wasted when it is used against useless things that no one knows what..

      • SUSAN

WHOEVER MR COOPER IS I THANK U FOR UR FULL SUPPORT TO THE VICTIM..AT LEAST GINISING MO ANG NATUTULOG AT KULELAT NA GOVT AT NA SHARE MO SA BUONG MUNDO KUNG ANO TALAGA ANG NANGYARI SA TACLOBAN AND OHER PLACES ..THANK U ONCE AGAIN..MR A. COOPER..

    • CT

it hurts when somebody points out the true and because you can’t defend your post, you resort to calling people names. so what if he’s a homosexual? yes, homosexual is the proper term, not girly man. and, i bet you call yourself a christian.

    • Thomas Hall

      he’s there where are you?

    • Jam Muncada

You can tell who are irresponsible people by hiding the truth! You are a disgusting human being. Philippines is full of corruptions in the government everyone knows. We have experienced in city hall, public hospital, customs, LTO, kotong cops, pork barrel, public works many many more… Five (5) days without medicines and clinic in the most devastated place Tacloban is not acceptable. We don’t need to uplift the local authorities they have been corrupt for a long long long time and inefficient to provide great service. They have to be held accountable for everything bad service they did to poor Filipinos. They are in power because they buy votes. That’s how they stay in power. New generation should run the Philippine government. I think you work for the government. If you are we have a lot of questions to ask. Are you ready? If not then we don’t have time to speak with you because you know NOTHING! You are just a selfish and arrogant people like the people in power. Our empathy is for the dying and the people who are suffering until with no food and shelter.

    • Jim

Donn Carlos, I will say this to your face bluntly. It’s all because of people who think like you do, that the Philippines remains in the third world country. Think deeper, and broaden your mind. I hope this can help make your brain produce a better judgement. This is for your name calling.

  • Llewelyn Avanzado Carpio

Anderson Cooper is just applying responsible journalism, which is telling the truth, Korina Sanchez too late a hero, and you don’t know who AC360 is.

    • Jam Muncada

Thanks for bringing it up. Everyone should know that his family are the Vanderbilts. “Cornelius Vanderbilt” a great entrepreneur (Shipping & Railroads) pioneer that transform the countries into an industrial world. They are not just Billionaires they change the world! A.C. a rich and great guy doesn’t have to work and yet trying to help the world for the better and continuing the legacy of their forefathers.

  • MARLON BACHECHA

it hurts when someone tells the truth,

    • Rhyss

I agree. I find that people here cant accept it. Maybe thats why the government CAN get away with everything because alot of people would just accept the lies they tell all the time. And, when somebody actually points out the lies, they get defensive. Seriously, this is a loss cost.

      • Jam Muncada

They don’t accept corrections and do a real public service! They are arrogant people in power and seeking more for prestige. It’s the start of her fall down. What goes up must comedown because of her bad character. Korina should apologize more to Filipinos. A.C. don’t need her apology I’m sure he will just say give your apology to the victims and survivors. He just want to let the whole world know to help the victims and survivors.

  • Abby Manuel

Kudos to Mr Anderson Cooper for giving us an outstanding broadcast of the haiyan aftermath. Watching his show (and other CNN shows) makes me somehow aware of what’s really happening back home. Politics and showbusiness in the Philippines (especially mixed together) kinda sucks. Instead of helping and doing what’s supposed to be done, people who are in power are more concerned of what they portray in the public. Anderson Cooper was a witness to this tragedy, being in
Tacloban and seeing first hand the situation of the typhoon victims. Whilst Korina Sanchez comfortably sits and reads news in the studio. Which one is credible, it’s pretty obvious to me.

    • Jam Muncada

She have shown the bad character of Filipinos in power. Mayabang! Instead of being great full and thanking them for their helping hands that’s what she gave them arrogance and a slap on the face. She should apologize! Here in America when they did something disgusting they apologize even the president does!

    • francis

I believed Mr Cooper yes I saw him interviewing the lady who was lost her house and the member of her family.

  • tabitha

wala talagang originality c korina, ngayon trade mark na raw nya ang tsinelas, pati c jess ninkawan pa ng trade mark.

  • tabitha

  • Jose Miguel F. Alzate

napakadaling mag komento para sa mga taong di involve sa kung saan ang pangyayari ay malayo sakanilang kalagayan. ifwe only noticed no one is going to blame .
