Baron Geisler vs Kiko Matos is on.
The two actors signed a contract with the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) on Monday afternoon, June 13.
The two actors will be among the fighters who will participate in the URCC Fight Night on June 25 at Valkyrie, the Palace, Uptown Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City.
They will be fighting for two rounds of three minutes each which is shorter compared to pro fights of three rounds and five minutes each.
Geisler said in an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” that he agreed to do the match to free political prisoners like Maricon Montajes, a film student from UP who is currently detained in Batangas.
“Everything I do is for a cause. It’s not all about me. It’s not about you. It’s about Him (God) and these other people na naaagrabyado [who are aggrieved],” he added.
The controversial actor also said that after the fight, he will stop drinking and smoking; emphasizing that ‘health is wealth’.
In fact, he disclosed in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the opening of the French Film Festival on June 8 that he’s already slowing down with smoking because he needs to stay focused.
As for Matos, he said he’s just going with the flow and anything can happen during their fight.
InterAksyon quoted the indie film actor as saying: “For me, I’m just going with the flow. Well, who wouldn’t take advantage of this? The door has already opened and you still won’t go in? I admit that what I’m getting into is also scary. The fact is, me and Baron will fight in the ring. I’m training for it, he’s training for it. Anything can happen. That’s no gimmick.”
