It’s really over for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which marks the end of an era for one of Hollywood’s highest profile marriages known as Brangelina.

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, with the legal documents citing “irreconcilable differences”, as confirmed by  Jolie’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, exclusively to TMZ.

The publication claims that the trigger for the dissolution of the marriage was a conflict over the couple’s six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Know and Vivienne —  Pitt’s alleged substance abuse, and anger management issues.

“Angelina became fed up with Brad’s consumption of weed and possibly alcohol, and mixed with what she believes is “an anger problem” … felt it became dangerous for the children,” a source claims.

The Maleficent actress will request physical custody of their children while her former husband, if the request is authorized, will not have joint physical custody, but will retain legal custody and granted visitation rights. Jolie did not seek spousal support.

Rumors of third party swirled in the past months, with a number of tabloids speculating the involvement of French actress and Pitt’s Allied co-star Marion Cotillard, and Lizzy Caplan, his other Allied co-star, as per an article published by Inquisitr.

The source dispelled the third party rumor and stressed that Jolie’s decision to file for divorce was solely over Pitt’s parenting method.

The date of separation is listed as September 15, 2016.

The couple, who met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, has been together since 2004, and was married in August 2014.
