A picture of a big rodent sitting on top of sausages and fish balls on stick inside a food warmer at a 24-hour convenience store in Malaysia went viral after it was uploaded online.

According to The Star Online, the incident occurred at the 7-Eleven branch at the Kelana Centre Point in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia on January 2, 2017. The management of the convenience store has since apologized for the sorry incident; saying it has conducted an internal investigation to find out how the incident happened.

The company said in a post on its Facebook page that it has taken note of the incident and sincerely apologized to customers who were inconvenienced by the “isolated case.” It said it had cooperated with the Health Minister office in Petaling Jaya about the incident and assured the public that pest control steps are in place to prevent similar incidents to occur.

Part of the company’s statement read: “The safety and well-being of our customers are of the utmost importance to us and we would like to reiterate that 7-Eleven Malaysia ensures that all of our food products are of the highest quality and produced hygienically in an approved and audited facility(s).”

Meanwhile, netizens are wondering how possible it is for a big rodent to enter a food warmer.
