President Rodrigo Duterte challenged Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to prove his claim that he has more than P2 billion in several bank accounts. The President said he will resign if the senator can prove his allegation.

“If Trillanes can prove his allegation that I have amassed P2 billion illegally or if that bank account under my name has a total deposit at one time or even just half a billion, I will resign as President immediately,” he said in a pre-recorded video taken at the Presidential Guest House in Panacan, Davao City late Thursday night, February 16.

The President advised Senator Trillanes to just go to court and file the appropriate charges against him.

“I would advise Trillanes to go to court and file the proper case against me and advise him further to stop opening his mouth when he has nothing to say,” the Inquirer quoted President Duterte as saying.

Trillanes said in an earlier press conference in the Senate that he will resign from his post if the President can prove him wrong.
