A 33-year-old Filipina in Hong Kong has been arrested on Friday, March 3, after she left her two children at home to drink outside.
The woman, who is jobless, reportedly left her 5-year-old son and 2-year old daughter in their flat at Wellcome Mansion on Cheung Sha Wan Road in Sham Shui Po, Kowloon for an overnight drink on Thursday.
A neighbor spotted the two children crying by the window around 9:00 am Friday.
The woman returned home around 10:00 am and said she left her kids after they went to sleep at 9:00 pm the night before.
The Hong Kong police arrested her for suspected child abuse.
According to Asia Times, the woman is married to a Tunisian refugee. She is currently unemployed and her husband has been denied re-entry to Hong Kong recently.
The HK social welfare department had since taken custody of the children to provide them with childcare services.
