It’s really a sad day for the students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMar) in Marikina City.
The PLMar’s vice president for academic services, 44-year-old Alfredo M. Dimaano, was found dead by authorities on Wednesday, March 15, inside his rented apartment unit in Marikit Subdivision, Concepcion Uno, Marikina. He has stab wounds on the neck.
Students went emotional upon hearing the news; saying he had touched so many lives when he was still serving the institution. Messages of grief flooded on social media.
“A great man indeed! You touched lives of every people you met. I am so honored to be one of those. Doc D will always be Doc D. May you rest in peace Doc Dimaano,” said KC.
“A very sad to hear that Doc Dimaano has passed away. One of the remarkable professors in PLMAR. My thoughts are with his family and friends,” wrote CA.
“May you rest in peace our beloved VP Acad. Deepest condolence to the family of Dr. Dimaano. I still can’t believe the news,” DB expressed.
Other groups also express sadness over the school official’s death.
“Our deepest Condolence for the family left by Dr.Dimaano a.k.a Dr. D. True gold from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, He smiles wherever the students and co-faculties accidentally bound to him. A knowledgeable professor, strict yes but the assurance of learning is there,” Rotaract Club of PLMar stated.
“We are deeply saddened to inform you that one of our greatest lecturers Dr. Alfred Dimaano, can no longer be with us due to an unprecedented incident. We are expressing our sincerest condolences to the family and relatives of Dr. Dimaano. Let us pray for his eternal repose and that justice may be served for him. Dr. Dimaano shall be remembered for his undying passion for education, excellence and commitment to service,” posted RGO Bulacan Review for Psychology.
According to Marikina Police Chief Lorenzo Ulanday, a person of interest is being eyed, but follow-up operations are still ongoing.
Authorities are looking at possible work-related motives or robbery, among others, in the killing of Dimaano, who was from Surigao del Norte.
