More than 16 years after it was first aired, the well-loved Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden will get a reboot!

On Instagram, Asian actress Barbie Hsu, who portrayed the role of Shan Cai — one of the protagonists — in the 2001 drama, shared a poster of Meteor Garden 2018 on her Instagram account.

The 40-year-old actress also recalled, through another post, that it has been 16 years since the Taiwanese drama was first aired on television.

“16 years ago today (April 12, 2001) #MeteorGarden first aired in Taiwan. It’s been a long time,” Hsu caption her throwback photo; with co-stars Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Vaness Wu, and Ken Chu, the F4 group.

Meteor Garden creator Angie Chai disclosed that the 2018 version will run for 48 episodes and will be a “fuller – and flashier – adaptation of the books.”

As of posting, Chai said they have not chosen who will play the new F4 and Shan Cai.

Meteor Garden is based on the Japanese manga series, Boys Over Flowers; which tells the story of Shan Chai, a teenage girl from a poor family who goes to a school for rich people at her parents’ insistence. There, she met four handsome but arrogant male students collectively known as F4. Dao Ming Si, F4’s leader, eventually fell in love with her.
