MANILA, Philippines –They gave her flowers and chocolates first, then shot her in the head.
A former beauty titlist in Bulacan was shot dead by two assassins who delivered to her house a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates on Wednesday, April 5.
An Inquirer article identified the victim as 23-year-old Mary Christine Balagtas. She was a former ‘Lakambini ng Bulacan’ who won the title in 2009.
Balagtas was reportedly shot in the head shortly after she received the flowers and chocolates from the gunmen past 9:00 am in their home in 1st La Mirada Subdivision, Barangay Banga, Plaridel.
The gunmen fled aboard a motorcycle towards an unknown direction, said Supt. Julio Lizardo, chief of Plaridel police.
Balagtas was immediately rushed to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the town of Pulilan but was declared dead on arrival.
Lizardo said they have found leads on the identity of the suspects but have not divulge any other detail pending investigation.
Meanwhile, friends of the victim has taken to social media to express their grief over the death of Balagtas.
