The search for Steve Stephens, the man who posted on Facebook the murder he committed, has ended when he killed himself after a brief police chase in Pennsylvania, the police said Tuesday, April 18.

As per the NY Times, a restaurant crew recognized Stephens when he pulled his white Ford Fusion sedan into the drive-thru lane of a McDonald’s on Buffalo Road in Erie County where he bought Chicken McNuggets and a large order of French fries.

The McDonald’s staff tried to stall Stephens by holding onto the French fries while calling authorities, but the suspect just took the chicken nuggets and drove off.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers gave chase. Using a PIT maneuver, a trooper rammed Stephen’s car to force the suspect to lose control of his vehicle. While his car was spinning out of control, Stephen pulled a gun and shot himself in the head.

“We’re grateful that this has ended. We would prefer that it had not ended this way because there are a lot of questions, I’m sure, that not only the family, but the city in general would have had for Steve,” Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said.
