One of the pilots killed in a plane crash on Monday near the Teterboro Airport in New Jersey has been identified as Filipino-American 33-year-old Jeffrey Alino.
The Bergen County Medical Examiner said Alino is the co-pilot of the Learjet 35 that went down while approaching the Teterboro Runway 1 early this week.
The ill-fated plane hit the ground near the Kero and Commerce roads in Carlstadt, just about a half mile from the runway, before bursting into a ball of flame.
Friends and relatives of the victim, from Union, New Jersey, paid tribute to the man whom they described as the “sweetest, kindest guy who’d help you in a pinch.”
“I am at a loss for words. Finding out that my cousin was one of the two crew members on the Learjet that crashed in Teterboro. We just spoke about planning a cruise together,” wrote Janice Snaer.
Alino is a certified commercial airline pilot with four years of flying experience.
Except for Alino and the captain, who has not been identified yet, no passengers were aboard the plane which was on its way to Philadelphia International Airport when the accident happened. Also, there were no reports of casualties on the ground.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board have yet to determine the cause of the crash.
