“Right there all the time?”
A woman in Australia didn’t realize she had been ‘wearing’ her engagement ring on her neck all along until her boyfriend surprised her and popped up the question during a recent holiday in Scotland.
Terry, a keen craftsman according to a Mail Online story, made a simple, shell-decorated necklace crafted from Tasmanian wood. He gave it to his girlfriend, Anna, during their first year anniversary back in 2015.
Anna didn’t know that inside the hollow shell was the diamond ring Terry kept, in hope of revealing it when the right time comes.
Eighteen happy months of being together have passed and the necklace never left Anna’s neck even while she’s shopping, working, or simply doing household chores.
Recently, they traveled to ‘Smoo Cave’ in Scotland; a place which had been on their bucket list since they first met.
Terry finally felt the right moment has come. So he borrowed the necklace from Anna; saying he would like to take its picture among the rocks.
“We wanted a nice photo so I set up my camera and tripod on a timer, and rushed in. I took the necklace from my pocket, kneeled, broke it open and revealed that something was hidden inside the entire time,” he told Mail Online.
When he cracked open the shell, and revealed what was hidden inside all along, Anna was stunned. Terry described her reaction as both ‘happy’ and ‘angry’. But she definitely said ‘Yes’.
Anna scolded him; saying she could have lost it anytime, and didn’t realize what was inside.
Even Terry admitted a moment of panic set in when they went through the X-ray machine at the airport. He said it could have turned into an instant ‘airport security proposal’.
“I had always loved the idea of giving someone a gift where they didn’t know its true value,” Terry said.
The couple, both in early 30s, are still in Switzerland enjoying their vacation. They are planning to get married soon.
