Netizens were outraged over an incident involving someone who seems to be a beggar who happens to also be a person with disability (PWD) after a security guard prevented him from entering a McDonald’s branch (Mc Arthur corner Field’s Avenue, Angeles City) so he could buy some food to eat.
Having been refused entry, the beggar ended up going to a nearby Jollibee store where he was welcomed and assisted by crew members when he placed his order.
Facebook user Dunn witnessed the incident while dining inside McDonald’s and felt sorry for the discriminatory treatment accorded to the man.
She said she tried to approach the guy to help him get some food inside but he has already crossed the street.
“I went after him but I have to do a U- turn. By the time I got near , he went inside Jollibee.”
Dunn shared a video and photos of the incident on her Facebook account and her post immediately went viral as netizens expressed their disgust with the McDonald’s security guard while at the same time commending Jollibee’s PWD-friendly staff.
Netizens also extended their sympathy to the PWD. However, there were some speculations that perhaps the guard at McDo has a previous unpleasant encounter with the PWD; hence, the refusal.
Well, whatever the reason is, it is obvious the poster just want to remind food chains not to be discriminating with regards to their customers.
Here’s the FB post:
“I feel sad for this guy who just wants to get himself a decent breakfast from McDonalds. The guard won’t let him in seeing that he is a beggar with a disability. The man was pointing at the counter trying to explain that he wanted to order some food. The guard even tried to mock him with his hand gestures that says he’s an addict. The man finally gave up and left. I tried to approach the guy to help him get some food inside but he already crossed the street. I went after him but I have to do a U- turn. By the time I got near , he went inside Jollibee, and I observed…. The staff at Jollibee were more than welcoming. They even help the guy to count his money in loose change. I just feel this is worth sharing.” #spreadthelove
