Five policemen and a 60-year-old civilian were injured following the explosion of a landmine believed to be planted by members of the New People’s Army in Maddela in Quirino province on Friday, July 14.
As per Philstar, P/Chief Insp. Ricardo Salada, chief of the Maddela Police, identified the blast victims as Police Officer 2 (PO2) Sonny Tadeo, PO2 Artemio Vino, PO2 Vicente Macabadbad, PO1 Omli Bruno, and PO1 Marvin Cabanilla, all assigned in Quirino Provincial Public Safety Company.
The civilian was identified as Jolly Juan, who was tending to his farm near the blast site in Barangay Diduyon in Maddela town.
PO2 Tadeo suffered the most serious injury as his left arm needed to be amputated.
Recovered from the blast site were improvised battery pack, electrical wires and parts of the landmine that exploded.
Police Chief Supt. Robert Quenery, Police Regional Office 2 director, condemned the bombing especially since an innocent civilian was injured. He said it was a clear violation of human rights.
