We bet no farm could be cuter than this solar farm in China.

Panda Green Energy Group Limited has recently opened in Datong Shanxi, China and is so far the most adorable clean energy facility in the world.

The Panda Farm is as big as 248-acre and has the ability to produce 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of solar energy in 25 years. A Science Alert article noted that this could reduce carbon emissions by 2.74 million tons.

Under the clean energy company, China Merchants New Energy Group, the farm is already powering a grid in northwestern China.

A statement of the company last June 29 said the solar plant was a project done in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The deal was inked in May last year and construction commenced in September.

“Datong Panda Power Plant is the starting point of the Panda Green Energy’s global layout on Panda Power Plant project, which is of great significance to the global green energy application, green concept communication and energy transformation,” said the company.

Another Panda plant will be constructed this 2017. This will be a part of the “Panda 100” Project that would bring green energy to other countries included in the “Belt and Road” initiative.

UNDP hopes the panda design could help them get more young people involved in sustainable development

“Young candidates from around China will be recruited to participate in summer camps at the Panda Solar Stations. Under the theme of the UNDP SDGs with a particular focus on clean energy, young people will have the opportunity to learn, share knowledge, and experience the steps of an intesnse innovation process,” the UN agency disclosed.

“Continuing the global success of the Naming Campaign for the ‘UNDP Panda Ambassadors for the Sustainable Development Goals’, the Global UNDP Panda Campaign for the SDGs will use the unique power of the pandas to further adovate and raise public awareness of the SDGs and clean energy,” it also said.
