Gilas Pilipinas records their second win in the William Jones Cup 2017 against Chinese-Taipei B 93-82, Monday July 17 at Taipei, Taiwan.

The Philippine Team fend-off the feisty Taipei squad as they kept the game close until the dying minutes of the 4th quarter.

Thanks to the clutch shots by Matthew Wright, Jio Jalalon and Kiefer Ravena as they opened a double-digit spread in crunch time.

“Going to the Jones Cup, I always fear the most playing Taipei B because they play with a lot of energy. They come in and they have nothing to lose. I told the guys come out with maximum effort because the other team will do,” said Gilas coach Chot Reyes via Philstar.

“At the half, I told the guys now you believe me we can’t take this team lightly. Now you know how serious this team is,” Reyes added.

Wright led the team with 21 points with 5 triples while Pogoy added 15 points, Jalalon came up with 13 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds while Ravena chip in with 10 markers, 7 assists, two rebounds, two steals and one block.

With the win Gilas is tied at second place with Lithuania and Iraq at 2-1.

Next game for Gilas Pilipinas is on July 18 against Japan, Live on Tv5 at 1 pm.
