One person lost his life and seven others were injured in an amusement ride accident Wednesday night in Columbus, Ohio.

The deceased is an 18-year-old man. None of the victims have been identified.

The horrifying video of the accident published by a witness on Twitter, shows the swinging and spinning amusement park ride called the ‘Fire Ball‘ as it malfunctioned and broke apart from the structure; throwing its passengers in the air after which they landed violently on the ground.

The drama occurred on the opening day of the Ohio State fair on Wednesday, authorities have confirmed.

Of the seven wounded, five of them are in critical condition, reports local television station WBNS-10 TV.

“I am terribly saddened by this accident, the death of one person and the fact that people were injured while taking advantage of the Ohio Fair,” said state governor John Kasich via his Twitter account. “I ordered  a full investigation into this event and have ordered that all rides be shut down until additional safety inspections can be completed. ”
