MANILA, Philippines – Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Rocky “The Outlaw” Batolbatol died in a vehicular accident early morning Sunday; this was announced on the his team’s Facebook page Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts.
Another victim named Gennar Moradas Ponce was with Batolbatol when the crash happened past 12:00 am in Cagayan De Oro City.
“In a very sudden and unfortunate turn of events, we are sadden to inform everybody that Rockytune “The Outlaw” Batolbatol passed away last night around 12:30AM due to a vehicular accident, also together in the casualty is Gennar Moradas Ponce,” the post read.
According to ONE Championship, the promotion under which the 32-year-old MMA slugger fought from Bacolod during his last 3 matches, “formal hospital medical reports and procedures are still being carried out”.
Batolbatol was scheduled to meet Sunoto “The Terminator” Peringkat in Indonesia this coming July 29, but the fight has been cancelled due to “logistical concerns”.
The deceased fighter has an MMA record of 5-3, including two KOs.
