NAIA baggage loader caught stealing pieces of jewelry from passenger’s bag

A baggage loader was arrested by airport authorities after he was caught stealing pieces of jewelry from a newly -arrived passenger’s bag at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Tuesday, July 18.

According to Pilipino Star Ngayon, the suspect was identified as Roger Daniel who was arrested by a security officer of Aviation Ope­rations and Management, Inc. (AVOMSI) after several pieces of jewelry were found in his hands.

Recovered from the suspects were 4 sets of earrings, two necklaces, four rings and a wristwatch he took from a baggage of an Etihad Airways passenger.

AVOMSI security specialist Meresa Porgadas said he accosted the suspect after he saw him acting suspiciously while at the breakdown area of the terminal where the luggage are to be loaded to the conveyor belt leading to the baggage carousel of the airport.

Porgadas said she conducted a body search and found the stolen items in the suspect’s hands. Prior to his arrest, the suspect had been under surveillance for several months on suspicion of being involved in another theft case at NAIA.
