- Ozamiz City Mayor Parojinog killed in a raid conducted by the PNP-CIDG

Seven people, including Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and his wife Susan, were killed in a series of raids conducted by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Sunday, July 30. Their daughter, city vice mayor Nova Parojinog-Echavez, was arrested.
As per the Inquirer, elements of the CIDG were simultaneously serving six search warrants against the properties of the Parojinogs around 2:30 a.m. when they were met with a volley of bullets coming from their security guards; prompting the raiding team to retaliate.
The other slain during the operation were identified as Misamis Occidental Board Member Octavio Parojinog, a certain Lydia and JR of Lumad TV; and members of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams Miguel del Victoria, Nestor Cabalan and Daniel D. Vasquez.
Assorted firearms and suspected shabu were allegedly found inside the house of Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog-Echavez, the rumored partner of Bilibid drug lord Herbert Colangco.
Mayor Parojinog and his vice mayor daughter was previously linked by President Rodrigo Duterte to illegal drug trade.
