After a heart-pounding five sets in Game 2 of the Philippine Super Liga finals, the Petron Blaze Spikers emerged as the winner and the champion in the All-Filipino conference of the tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
It was a tight contest all throughout the match as both Petron and F2 Logistics Cargo Movers took turns taking the first four sets.
Petron won the first set 26-24, but the feisty F2 Logistics showed their confidence and took set 2 and 3 with a score of 26-24 in both sets.
Down 2 sets to 1, the Blaze Spikers stepped on the gas to force a deciding 5th set.
From there, the Blaze Spikers never looked back with Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Bernadeth Pons keeping their team ahead in the fifth set to end their two-year title drought in the tournament.
Cherry Rondina led the way for Petron with 16 points with Most Valuable Player of the Conference Aiza Maizo-Pontillas chipping in 14 points.
Petron regained the All-Filipino title which they last won in 2015.
Ara Galang led the the Cargo Movers with 20 points of 17 attacks and 3 aces while Aby Marano had 14 markers.
