MANILA, Philippines – Have you seen this man?

Police are currently on the lookout for a former marine recorded gunning down a motorcycle rider in Brgy. Magallanes, Makati City.

A nearby CCTV caught the assailant — identified as Marcelino “Marco” Paragoya Canamo Jr. — gunning down his hapless victim Edison Ken Dumpa in the middle of the street before hailing a taxi and making a getaway.

The driver of the taxi Canamo hailed said the suspect told him he killed Dumpa because of the latter’s alleged arrogant behavior.

“Sabi niya lang mayabang daw, kasi tinanong ko ‘Bakit mo naman pinatay ang tao? Ay, kasi mayabang eh. Nayabangan ako’,” he told News5.

[He said he was arrogant, because I asked him ‘Why did you kill that man? It’s because he was arrogant. I found him arrogant.’]

Chief Inspector Roman Salazar, head of Makati PNP’s Investigation Branch, said Canamo could have been drunk and became furious after being refused a ride by Dumpa whom he mistakenly thought to be an operator.

“Nakikita natin na motibo dito, ay lasing ‘yung suspek, parang nagpapahatid siya. Allegedly, sinabihan niya ‘yung victim na ‘Ihatid mo ko somewhere in Taguig’, pero pumalag ‘yung victim kasi nga, ‘Di kita kilala, ba’t kita ihatid?’” he said.

[We see the motive, the suspect was drunk, and it appears he wanted a ride. Allegedly, he told the victim ‘Drive me somewhere in Taguig’, but the victim refused and answered, ‘I don’t know you, why should I drive you?’]

Authorities have slapped murder charges and are currently searching for Canamo who remains at large.
