Another escalator mishap?

A two-year-old boy figured in a painful incident involving an escalator inside a mall in Iligan City.

The child was reportedly sitting beside the lower part of an escalator with his mother when he held its moving handrail.

Suddenly, his hand along with his arm was pulled towards the handrail entry device and got stuck.

Several people and the guards of the mall rushed in to help, but the boy’s arm was only released when the glass of the escalator and the aluminum plate beneath it was destroyed.

ABS-CBN said the management of the mall declined to speak in front of the camera but the spokesperson said they never lacked instructions and safety precautions in using the escalator, as seen on these images:

It remains to be seen if the mother would file a case or not.
