“Nananaginip nang gising, nakatulala sa hangin…” Nope, you are not dreaming, Aegis fan; the band you love is about to perform on their biggest concert yet and you are invited.
On September 1, 2017, the Filipino pop-rock band will be performing their “homecoming concert” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
During a press conference on Tuesday at the Resorts World Manila, Aegis vocalist Juliet Sunot said: “Mixed emotions kami. Masaya kami kasi merong taong nagtiwala sa amin para mag-perform sa Newport Performing Arts Theater kasi isang malaking karangalan ‘yun,” [It’s mixed emotions for us. We are happy that there are people who trusted us to perform at Newport Performing Arts Theater. It’s such an honor.]
Sunot further said they feel both excited and nervous about the idea of performing for a such a large crowd.
The band is also looking forward to doing covers during its homecoming concert titled: “Aegis na Aegis: A Story of Us.”
Covers like Celine Dion songs, Whitney Houston, and even Despacito but in an Aegis way, Sunot said.
When asked what is her secret for maintaining her powerful voice, the singer said that she never drinks cold water. Ice cream and sweets are also a no-no, and self-discipline and prayers are a must, she added.
20 years ago, Aegis was formed. The band is composed of sisters (Juliet, Mercy and Ken Sunot) on vocals, Rey Abenoja on guitars, Stella Pabico on keyboards, Rowena Pinpin on bass and drummer Vilma Goloviogo.
Many Aegis songs have made a mark on the hearts of Filipinos, “Luhà” (“Tears“), “Halík” (“Kiss“), and “Basáng-basâ sa Ulán” (“Drenched in the Rain“) to name a few.
