A car was crushed by a cement mixer truck that overturned in Quezon City on Tuesday afternoon, August 15.
According to an Inquirer story, the car – a white Honda Brio with plate number AOA 3301 – with five passengers was traversing Mindanao Avenue when the cement mixer truck overturned and crushed it around 5:00 in the afternoon.
The truck, owned by Topstar Ready Concrete Inc., reportedly lost its brake and hit the center island in front of the Bureau of Jail and Penology (BJMP) causing it to tilt towards the car.
BJMP personnel were the first to respond to the accident. They propped the truck up with bamboo poles and steel bars to prevent the truck from further crushing the car.
The car’s driver identified as Ulysses Ramos was killed in the accident, while his wife Marife, 35, and children Eulariza, 12, Eugene, 8, and Enrico, 4, suffered injuries and were rushed to a hospital.
The police has taken custody of the truck driver identified as Jayson Nuay, 27 years old.
