A “documented gang member” is being actively sought in California for shooting his pregnant wife at her mother’s apartment over the weekend.

Christopher Michael Diaz, 26, is believed to have shot his wife, Roxann Acosta, just before 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1200 block of Victoria Avenue to find a dead woman from a gunshot wound.

“Diaz is an alleged gang member and considered armed and dangerous,” according to a Montebello police press release.

He is 5-foot-5 and weighs 145 pounds.

The family of Roxann Acosta told the authorities that the couple was in the process of divorce. The victim is survived by her three children.

Acosta’s mother, Alicia Acosta, spoke to the media Tuesday night.

“I always feared him, that’s why he wasn’t welcome into the family,” she said. “I know he’s out there, he’s out there somewhere watching. I know he’s watching all this, yeah, look what he did, he’s a monster, look what he did, a freakin monster.”

The investigation is still ongoing.
