- Mother of slain Grade 11 student denied he was into drugs
- She admitted hurt over allegations, said family has no chance against police
- She also dared accuser to tell the truth, reveal his handlers
MANILA, Philippines – The mother of Kian delos Santos has admitted being hurt over allegations her son was into drugs; saying the claim made by police is untrue and unsubstantiated.
“Mahirap ka na, parang nilulubog ka pa. Ano pong laban namin sa mga taong nasa katungkulan na pinoprotektahan pa ho ng mga taong may matataas na katungkulan? Ano po ang laban namin na isang hamak?” Lorenza delos Santos told GMA News.
[You’re already poor, and yet it’s like you’re still being submerged. What chance do we have with those in power who are being protected by their higher-ups. What chance do we lowly have?]
Delos Santos, an OFW who came home following her son’s death, also dared suspected drug pusher and police witness Renato Loberas to come clean and tell the truth.
“Darating ang panahon na makonsensya ka, pero huli na. Dapat ngayon itama mo, kasi nakita mong isang inosente ‘yung tao. Huwag kayong magtago,” she said.
[The time will come when you’ll be stricken by your conscience, but it’s too late. You should do the right thing because you know the person was innocent. Don’t try to hide.]
It was Loberas who claimed that the slain 17-year-old had worked as a drug courier for a certain “Neneng”. However, Delos Santos urged him to reveal his handlers’ identity.
“Kung sino man ‘yung nagpoprotekta sa inyo, sana, malalaki man sila, ituwid n’yo lang kung ano ‘yung katotohanan,” she said.
[To whoever is protecting you and even if they are powerful, we hope that you set things straight and tell the truth.]
