The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) intensified security around Lanao Lake area amid reports that terrorists are trying to reinforce their comrades in Marawi City.
According to GMA, AFP Spokesman Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said the military is bracing for enemy reinforcement that will possibly enter Marawi City via Lanao Lake; saying ground commanders monitored armed men trying to go to the besieged city using the part of the lake from Marantao town.
Padilla expressed confidence that no enemies could enter the war zone through the lake as soldiers have already been deployed in the area to guard against enemy reinforcement since the third week of the fighting. The Marawi war has been raging since May 23.
