- The lawyer said they encouraged his client to tell the truth
One of the founders of Aegis Juris fraternity told a Senate committee conducting a probe on the fatal hazing of Horacio “Atio” Castillo III that there will be no cover-up in the case.
According to GMA, Attorney Paterno Esmaquel is one of the founders of Aegis Juris and is the legal counsel of John Paul Solano, one of the primary suspects in the death of Castillo. The lawyer said he encouraged Solano, also a member of the fraternity, to tell the truth.
Esmaquel said Solano asked him if there will be a cover-up on the case.
“Sabi ko, no. Let the axe fall where it should fall. I encouraged him to tell the truth and nothing but the truth,” the lawyer said; adding that they have already prepared an affidavit where they will name names.
