A dentistry student was nabbed in an entrapment operation by the PNP-CIDG. Denesse Joy Trinidad was caught in the act performing a dental procedure to a patient in a makeshift clinic at her residence in Imus, Cavite.
Trinidad also worked as an assistant to a licensed dentist.
Dental supplies, instruments, tools, brace sets, and denture-making materials and tools were confiscated.
Dr. Gemma Castronuevo, President of the Cavite Chapter of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA), explained that some patients, victims of malpractice reported their bad experiences.
The PDA advices the public to make sure that their dentists are certified and accredited to practice as professionals.
Dr. Stephen Almonte, PDA Executive Vice President said that there must be a diploma from a recognized and established dentistry school displayed at the clinic. More importantly, the PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) Certificate which proves the legitimacy of a professional.
The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) now has custody of Trinidad.
