- Eight members of Bua drug ring were arrested

Combined team of anti-narcotics agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines nabbed eight members of a notorious drug syndicate operating in six towns in Maguindanao province.
As per a Philstar story, agents from PDEA in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM), Maguindanao provincial police and members of the Philippine Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion arrested the suspects in separate raids in Sultan Kudarat town on Friday, September 22.
Nabbed were Almusid, Ibrahim, Madryu and Fatima, all surnamed Karim; Reniel Ampuan; Jimmy Gomez; Nasser Usop Makalinggi and Cortez Esmael who are members of the notorious Bua drug syndicate.
“These are remnants of the ‘Bua’ drug syndicate. They were rounded up with the help of local officials and vigilant barangay officials in Sultan Kudarat,” Juvenal Azurin, director of PDEA-ARMM, said.
Azurin said the group peddles shabu in Sultan Kudarat, Sultan Mastura, Parang, Buldon, Barira and Matanog towns in the first district of Maguindanao.
Three senior members of the drug ring remains at large and are the subjects of a manhunt operation.
