A doctor is someone who maintains or restores human health through the practice of medicine. However, despite their good deeds there are still others who seem ungrateful.

In one such awful incident, the father demanded compensation from a doctor who damaged his son’s clothing after saving his son’s life.

On September 11, the son, surnamed Li, was rushed to Zhongnan Hospital (China’s Hubei Province) after losing consciousness due to a pulmonary embolism; a blockage of an artery in the lungs. Luckily, the team of medical staff saved his life.

However, the patient’s father noticed that his son’s clothing had been cut and the contents of his pockets were missing.

As a result of this, the father asked the doctor to pay 1500 Yuan in compensation.

In the end, the doctor managed to negotiate with the father and paid him only 1,000 yuan.

Eventually, he told reporters, as per a Shanghaiist story, that he understood where the father was coming from. “For some people, 1,000 Yuan is not a big deal, but for him, it was probably very important,” he said.

The story went viral on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform, and netizens couldn’t believe it. While some questioned the sanity of the parent, others were in deep shock. The netizens also lauded the doctor as “saint” while the father as a “piece of trash”.

“Probably, his life isn’t even worth 1,000 Yuan,” the report quoted one Weibo user. “For some people, you can bring their bodies back to life, but not their souls,” the report added.

Meanwhile, another netizen worried about what sort of precedent this would set in the emergency room: “Doctors! In the future, please save my life before my clothes.”
