A mom-to-be was forced to deliver her baby prematurely after her boyfriend attacked her, doused her in gas and set her on fire.
Andrea Grinage, 30, who was found with devastating burns all over her body was recovered around 11:45 am, Friday at her home in Capitol Heights, Maryland, as per a story shared by Daily Mail.
According to Andrea’s father, her boyfriend made the horrifying assault because he is not yet ready to be a dad.
Because of trauma, Andrea was forced to give birth to a seven-week premature baby girl named Journey Aleah. Mother and baby are now both recovering at home.
Andrea, who also has two boys aged eight and 15, lost everything in the fire.
Her father Arthur Grinage Sr. launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe in an appeal for a financial support for her daughter’s medical treatment.
“Everything was lost in the fire and she must begin a new with your help. She has a long road to recovery and unknown medical cost. PLEASE stop domestic violence!!” he wrote.
“It all stems from him not wanting to take responsibility of him being a newborn dad,” said Arthur, speaking to WJLA after the attack.
“He didn’t want that. And once a baby is conceived it’s too late for all that. You either step up and be a dad or you walk away,” he added.
Meanwhile, investigators said that Andrea told the neighbors her attacker’s name and that the attacker was going to D.C to kill one of her family members.
Detectives said they were able to talk with the suspect on the phone and tried to convince him into turning himself in. However, the suspect has yet to be identified by law enforcement, according to WJLA.
