National Capital Region Police Office Director Oscar Albayalde made a firm decision to relieve the whole police force of Caloocan City.
Albayalde made an announcement that the entire Caloocan police with more than 1,000 personnel will have to undergo retraining and reorientation during an event in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
The retraining will be done by batches, Albayalde was quoted saying by GMA News , “Yung tatlong station na ‘yun ay uunahin ngunit ang tinitingnan natin ang lahat ng personnel ay papalitan natin at iikot at magu-undergo sila ng retraining,” referring to station 2, 6 and 7 which will be first batches to undergo the retraining. [Those three stations will be the first batches but we are making sure that all the personnel will be replaced and circulated and will undergo retraining.]
This came after a number of Caloocan police got involved in a lot of controversies and illegal activities. A day prior to the order, 16 Caloocan policemen were caught in a CCTV of an old woman’s home in Barrio Sta. Rita, Barangay 188, Tala, apparently robbing the place. A police was even seen carrying a M-16 armalite upon breaking and entering the house, as per an article by ABS-CBN.
Before this, there was a public outcry when Caloocan police became involved in the separate killings of minors, Kian Lloyd delos Santos and Carl Angelo Arnaiz. After reporting that the teenagers were killed in shootouts, investigations indicate that the minors have been executed. The Caloocan police are also being investigated in their possible involvement in the death of another minor, 14-year-old Reynaldo de Guzman; the companion of Arnaiz, according to a Kicker Daily story.
