Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov compares the war of words between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un to child fights in kindergarten.
Previously, Kim called Trump as “mentally deranged” and “dotard”. Trump responded with the a tweet calling Kim Jong-un a “madman”.
Lavrov said a break is needed “to calm down hot heads” following a series of North Korean ballistic missile tests over the past few months.
“Yes it is unacceptable to watch North Korea’s military nuclear adventure silently, but it is also unacceptable to spark a war on the Korean Peninsula,” the senior diplomat said.
“Together with China we’ll continue to strive for a reasonable approach and not an emotional one like when children in a kindergarten start fighting and no-one can stop them,” he said.
Instead of fighting each other, he called for a political process which he said was a key part of the United Nations Security Council process.
