- A demo of the Beatles’ song “What Goes On” is up for sale on eBay
- Auction runs until October 1
- The 1963 demo cut was sung by John Lennon, while a reworked version was sung by Ringo Starr and released in the Rubber Soul album in 1965
A previously unreleased demo of the song “What Goes On” by the Beatles is currently up for sale on eBay offered by Austria-based record shop Parlogram.
The auction runs until October 1. With just 11 bids, the price is already up to $4,048, as per Grammys.
This 1963 demo version of the song predates the group’s recording sung by Ringo Starr and released in their “Rubber Soul” album in 1965. This earlier version was sung by John Lennon, who wrote the song, backed by Paul McCartney’s harmonies on the chorus part. The demo featured different verses, but the chorus is largely unchanged.
An auction house representative said the demo has John Lennon on acoustic guitar.
