A young Chinese working mother has earned the title of the “most beautiful bailiff” after photos of her breastfeeding a defendant’s hungry baby outside a courtroom warmed hearts.
Officer Lina Hao, who works at Shanxi Jinzhong Intermediate People’s Court, was asked to take care of the four-month-old baby. However, the baby began crying at the nursing time. Her mother was unable to feed her as she was facing trial at the courthouse. Ms. Hao decided to breastfeed the defendant’s daughter, Shanghaiist reported.
According to The Telegraph as disclosed in a Straits Times news story, a colleague of the officer captured the sweet and warm moment of Hao breastfeeding the child in a quiet corner of the building.
Some netizens appreciated Ms. Hao’s kindness and selfless love, while others applauded the beauty of motherhood.
The 26-year-old mother explained, “That baby wouldn’t stop crying and we were all worried.”
“I am a new mother; I could feel how anxious the child’s mother would have been. All I thought about was to try my best and comfort the tiny baby.”
As per Channel News Asia, photos and an interview of Hao were posted on the court’s WeChat page on September 23. Several media agencies wrote about the story and became viral across social media platforms, including an official microblogging site, CCTV News where it gained more that 10,000 likes and over 13,000 comments, as of posting.
The court also reported that as of September 28, the video has been viewed more than 3M times.
