30,000 ‘sardinas’ boodle fight, Vinta race and other attractions in Zamboanga City’s Hermosa Festival

More than 30,000 cans of sardines were shared by townsfolk and tourists while others witnessed the beautiful race of Vintas in Zamboanga City.

The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival is a month-long festival held every October. It is celebrated in honor of the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Pillar, the patroness of Zamboanga City.

Zamboanga city is known for the Vinta, a colorful traditional boat, and each year during the Hermosa Festival they conduct a regatta (boat race) that is both exciting and enchanting to watch.

Not only the race champ gets a prize, but also the most beautiful Vinta.

Zamboanga is also knows as the Sardines Capital of the Philippines. Hence, in time with the Hermosa Festival, this year’s celebration of “Wow Sardinas” featured 30,000 cans of sardines that was shared in a boodle fight open to the public.
