A 3-year-old girl from Texas went missing after she was put outside by her father early Saturday morning as a punishment for not drinking her milk, according to police.
The events occurred in the minor’s home, around 3 am Saturday night, when the girl’s foster father reportedly sent her outside to stay next to a tree 30 meters away from their house as a punishment for not drinking her milk.
When a few minutes later he went out to get her, the girl was no longer there.
Sherin Mathews who has developmental issues and limited verbal communication skills, was last seen outside her family’s backyard in Richardson, Dallas.
Sherin was wearing a pink top, black pajama bottoms and pink sandals.
According to multiple reports, the family adopted Sherin two years ago at an orphanage in India.
The 37-year-old father was arrested for negligence and putting the child at risk, but has been released from prison after paying a $ 250,000 bail.
According to local media reports, the girl’s mother does not face any charges. She was in the house at the time, but was reportedly asleep and unaware of what the father did.
Sherin’s parents are no longer speaking with police and have since retained legal counsel.
The search for Sherin still continues as per a post by Richardson Police Department on its Facebook page.
