Not in the mood for movies? No, not that.

Aga Muhlach revealed that the reason he turned down offers for him to act and star in lead roles is that he is struggling with obesity.

He had been away from the limelight for close to 6 years but is now back in a family-oriented movie Seven Sundays.

Aga was ready to answer questions during a press conference for their movie. When he was asked why he left showbiz for some time, the former matinee idol gave a straightforward answer to Pep, “It’s my being overweight.”

Aga added, “I struggled for how many years losing weight dahil nagpahinga talaga ako. Every year na may nag-ooffer sa ‘kin ng love story, parang hindi ko kaya. Hindi ko kaya na lumabas na leading man na ganitong itsura ko, dahil hindi ko gagawin yun.”  [I struggled for how many years in losing weight because I really took a break. Every year, when there’s an offer for me to do a love story, I doubt myself if I can do it. I can’t appear as a leading man looking like this. I would never do that.]

Aga also shared that one of the reasons why he decided to do the movie Seven Sundays, was because he didn’t need to lose weight. He said, “If you really watch the movie, makikita mo talaga, maputing buhok, malaki ang tiyan. Parang napag-iwanan talaga.” [You will see, I have white hairs, big stomach. It looks liked I’ve been left behind.]

But he also reiterated that the substance and depth of the movie made him consider it as his perfect comeback movie. Aga plays the role of Alan, the eldest of the four children of Ronaldo Valdez’s character. Their movie Seven Sundays is set to open in cinemas on October 11. It is directed by the blockbuster hit director Cathy Garcia-Molina and top bills big names such as Dingdong Dantes, Enrique Gil and Cristine Reyes.
