The Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections were postponed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“The President has signed into law the resetting of the barangay and SK elections,” House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas told press.

The Republic Act 10952 was signed on October 2 and released on October 4. It states that the October 23, 2017 barangay and SK polls will be postponed to the second Monday of May 2018 (or May 14).

The next barangay elections will be held on 2020, and after that, every three years.

Meanwhile, incumbent barangay officials will remain in their positions until new officials are elected in May next year, except if they were suspended or relieved of their respective positions.
