The shopping malls located along the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) will soon change their operating hours.
According to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA,) starting Monday, October 16 to January 15, 2018, the malls will open at 11AM-11PM during weekdays.
The idea behind the move is to lessen the traffic this holiday season.
Meanwhile, delivery hours for non-perishable goods will also be adjusted under the scheme implemented by the MMDA. It will be 11PM-5AM daily.
However, those malls who will not abide by the new scheduling will not be penalized, because no memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between the malls and the MMDA.
In addition, sales periods will only be permitted on Saturdays and Sundays.
If the schedule would not affect mall profits, the MMDA may propose the permanent adoption of the opening and closing hours.
