Despite being injured, an Emirati man risked his own life by saving the lives of two Filipinos after their jet ski overturned at Al Loulouah beach in Khor Fakkan last weekend.

Gulf News identified the heroic man as Othman Al Naqbi, a local resident.

Al Naqbi said he was driving his car at the beach on Saturday afternoon when he heard someone screaming from the sea and saw the Filipino couple “battling the waves” and out of their jet ski.

The two Filipinos, according to Al Naqbi, were already wearing their life jackets, but they are still calling for help.

“I removed my clothes and called 999 to inform Police about the incident, then I entered the sea despite having serious injuries in my shoulder and brought them ashore to safety,” the Emirati man told Gulf News.

Luckily, Al Naqbi managed to bring the Filipinos to safety despite his injuries. The latter were then given first aid before they taken to a hospital in Sharjah.

Brigadier Ali Saif Al Nadas, Director of external areas police department of Sharjah police, praised Al Naqbi for his heroic act and honored him “for his courage and prompt response”.
