June Mar Fajardo hailed as PBA MVP; ties with Fernandez and Patrimonio for 4x MVP record holders

For the fourth straight year, June Mar Fajardo was hailed as the Most Valuable Player of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA.) He tied the record shared by Alvin Patrimonio and Ramon Fernandez of four MVP wins.

After leading his squad San Miguel ‘Beermen’ to its third straight Philippine Cup title as well as the Commissioner’s Cup championship, the 6 feet and 11 inches center is announced as season 2016-2017’s PBA MVP.

Meanwhile, the mythical five is comprised mostly of the Beermen, June Mar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, Chris Ross, and Alex Cabagnot, joined by Barangay Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar to round out the selection.

Roger Pogoy of TNT won Rookie of the Year, while Ross was named Most Improved Player and Rain or Shine’s Gabe Norwood won the Sportsmanship Award.

June Mar Fajardo was born November 17, 1989 in Compostela.

Despite his young age, Fajardo showed great potential and has been dubbed by local sports analysts as the Future of Philippine basketball. He is also known as The Kraken.
