A 23-year-old Malaysian man was arrested in connection with a woman’s case of selling her underaged daughter into prostitution, following his confession of bringing the girl, who happens to be his niece, to a hotel room.
According to the man as disclosed in Asiaone, they were already inside the hotel room when he found out that the 14-year-old girl was his niece.
It is not known though why he did not recognize his niece at first.
Reports say he was arrested at 9:30pm on October 9, 2017 in front of a restaurant in Lawas town. The man told the police who arrested him that he did not have sex with his niece.
Police chief Deputy Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad of Lawas District said they were given an order from the magistrate’s office to remand him for seven days.
This case was first known by the Lawas Police District when they received a report that a 30-year-old housewife allegedly sold off her own daughter as a prostitute on October 8, 2017 at 2:15pm.
The daughter stated that her mother forced her to provide sex, to pay off for the latter’s debt.
Allegedly, the victim’s mother collaborated with the owner of a karaoke joint to sell the girl’s “services”.
A man then paid the karaoke owner RM1, 000 (S$320.60), then brought her to a hotel where she was raped three times, the victim told the police.
The karaoke owner was arrested by Lawas police on October 8 at 3pm. She is now being detained at the Lawas police lockup, together with the victim’s mother.
