The mother of a US soldier killed in battle has backed a congressional accusation that President Donald Trump showed insensitivity during a phone conversation with her son’s widow.

Sgt. La David Johnson was among the four soldiers killed in an ambush in Niger on October 4.

A photo of his wife Myeshia draped over his coffin broke America’s heart earlier this week.

Earlier, President Trump accused a congressional member of lying when he mentioned that Donald Trump told the widow of Sgt. Johnson “He knew what he signed up for … but when it happens, it hurts anyway.”

Trump said that Congressman Frederica Wilson’s statement, is ‘completely wrong.’

The US President was criticized earlier for not directly contacting the families of soldiers killed by the raid.

Despite the denial of the President, Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, said  that Trump called as she and her son’s widow, Myeshia, drove to Miami International Airport to meet her son’s body. “I was in the car and I heard the full conversation,” Jones-Johnson told The Associated Press.

“Not only did he disrespect my son, but he disrespected his wife and me and my husband,” she said.

Another development has surfaced and it was revealed that in a telephone conversation, Trump had promised money to the father of a dead soldier, but it was suspected the money had never been delivered.
