Presidential Adviser on Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion spoke with top business executives and encouraged them to help the administration in its vision to help the poor.

Joey Concepcion expressed President Duterte’s stand on the big businesses in the country. He clarified that the President is not against big corporations and establishment but only against those who do not try to help the poor. He was quoted by GMA saying, “In the end, if big businesses will not help the poor, definitely the President will be against that establishment.”

Concepcion also reminded the top executives of the country during the AVCJ Private Equity and Venture Forum, of what the President had promised to his people. He said, “That’s a fact, because he was basically elected to help improve the lives of other Filipino people.”

But Concepcion also gave appreciation to their support and asked that in the end, they must give the administration a chance to make big chances in the society. He added, “Again, the President looked at many of our large businesses as oligarchs. He’s starting to change that outlook. In a way, the private sector or the bulk of the private sector has been supportive of this administration.”

This came after a series of tirade by the President against big businesses made headlines.

The Philippine Airlines under Lucio Tan have paid its due of P6-billion worth of airport charges after the President threatened them to have the airport shut down. The online gaming firm PhilWeb Corp has lost its previous chairman Roberto Ongpin when he resigned after President called him an “oligarch.”
