President Rodrigo Duterte announced during the groundbreaking ceremony of Scout Ranger Ville, a housing project for the military in San Miguel, Bulacan that Russia is donating rifles and military truck to help the country in its fight against terrorism.
As mentioned in Inquirer, the President said Russia will donate 5,000 Kalashnikovs and 20 military trucks.
In an ambush interview, Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirmed the President’s statement.
The National Defense Secretary said a Russian vessel is set to arrive in Manila in two weeks to deliver the donations.
“Ito yung donation ng Russia sa ating fight against terrorism. Darating yung barko nila dito sa 22 October, which is about two weeks from now tapos yung turnover ng mga equipment, mga baril sa 25 sa Manila,” Lorenzana said.
