MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Miguel Zubiri blasted the alleged leader of the Aegis Juris fraternity over his refusal to admit his status as its “Grand Praefectus” (GP) or overall head; saying he can rot under Senate custody.

“Sa ngayon wala pa siyang pinapadalang feelers at kung mayroon man siyang pinapadalang feelers, bahala siya sa buhay niya. Mabulok siya doon,” the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted him as saying, in reference to Arvin Balag.

[Until now he has not sent any feelers and if he does send any, it’s up to him. He will rot there.]

“Ang mangyayari sa kanya siguro pagbalik after break, before we can discuss na Atio Castillo case again, eh mabubulok muna siya diyan sa Senado,” he added.

[What might happen to him is maybe after break, before we can discuss the Atio Castillo case again, he will rot in the Senate in the meantime.]

Zubiri, a close family friend of the Castillos and who knew slain UST law freshman Atio personally, described Balag as a coward and said even his peers are angry at him for refusing to admit he was their leader.

“Dahil unang-una masyado siyang duwag. Ayaw niyang aminin na siya ‘yung leader ng kanilang fraternity. Tama ‘yung sinabi ni Senator Grace (Poe) na anong klaseng leader ito, na he doesn’t man up,” he said.

[Because first of all, he is very cowardly. He does not want to admit that he’s the leader of their fraternity. What Senator Grace Poe said about the kind of leader he is was correct, because he doesn’t man up.]

“Siya po ‘yung head ng fraternity kaya galit na galit ‘yung mga miyembro dahil common knowledge naman na siya ‘yung leader, ayaw niyang aminin, ginagago na naman ‘yung committee namin. Kaya hindi po kami pumayag at we placed him under contempt and arrest,” the senator continued.

[He is the head of the fraternity so the members are really angry because it’s common knowledge that he is their leader, but he refuses to admit and makes a fool out of our committee. That’s why we didn’t let it slide and we placed him under contempt and arrest.]
