• One of the suspects in the rape-slay of Mabel Cama has been arrested
• The suspect denied his involvement in the crime, but evidence pointed to his participation in the killing
• The suspect’s fingerprints were lifted from the victim’s cellphone
The Pasig Police now has under its custody a suspect in the gruesome rape-slay of a 23-year-old bank employee Mabel Cama, who was burned after she was sexually assaulted.
According to GMA, Superintendent Orlando Yebra, Pasig City police chief, believed there are other individuals involved in the crime aside from the arrested suspect identified as Randy Oavenada, who tested positive for illegal drug use.
“Sa ngayon, isa pa lang ang arestado natin pero kami po ay hindi naniniwala na gagawin niya nang mag-isa ‘yun. So ngayon, tuloy-tuloy ang ating investigation,” Yebra said.
[As of now, only one was arrested, but we believe that he can’t do it alone. So now, our investigation is ongoing]
Oavenada denied the accusation against him, but Yebra said they are not expecting that the suspect will admit committing the crime.
“‘Yung pag-amin niya ay inaasahan namin na hindi niya gagawin pero siya po ang tinuturo ng ebidensiya kaya’t wala siyang magagawa roon,” the police official said.
[We do not expect that he will confess, but the evidence pointed to him, so he can’t do anything about it]
Oavenada’s fingerprints were lifted from the cellphone owned by the victim.
